Make Plex work with Ipv6 only

First of all, sorry for my English :)

Last week I ordered a KS-LE-1 from Kimsufi and it's capped to 100 mbps on ipv4, then I tested ipv6 and it's 1000 mbps network so I wanted to ask if there's any way to prioritize ipv6 over ipv4 on Plex?

I have big library of 4k remux movies and video britate can go over 180 mbps and then it start to buffer every 5 seconds on ipv4 when on ipv6 it just doesn't buffer.

I have plex on Docker, I'm not sure if it's possible to use Plex for Windows on ipv6 without going to Settings and manually disabling ipv4.

  • Under Settings --> Nework make sure you add your domain or IPv6 address under "Custom Server access URLs" in the format of http://[full-ipv6-address-with-no-abbreviations]:32400

OR, put your plex server behind CloudFlare and create a page rule for it not to cache anything and create an AAAA record to your plex server.

Behind Cloudflare won't work for them since they need it to be IPv6 all the way to the destination server in order to get the higher network speed, right?

  • Create an nginx or haproxy frontend on ipv6 only.
