Split from the pit, great find, bought one myself.

Network bench via v6 gives me up 700Mbit, will see how long.
Without v4 sucks yea just need to find a cheap or free way to get v4 traffic on it.

  • I am happy with the pi at home, but I dont see the benefits of use a pi in Datacenter.

Use an OVH VPS for 6to4 using WireGuard or smh. Been doing this for a long time and it's running great so far.

Especially cause OVH hasn't any Anti-DDoS on IPv6 yet.

    An IPv4 for 1,25/month isn't too expensive.

  • Sounds like fun to tinker with, but at this price the kimsufi KS-1 is a better deal even though this is on gigabit

Sir, its 2.50 + VAT, A KILLER so to speak.
Besides, I just tunnel v4 from some other machina.

  • This may have more cpu power than a ks-1, or at least be pretty close. Also has SSD, though smaller than the KS-1's HDD.

I tried to buy an ikoula product a year or so ago but there was some quite invasive signup process that I noped out of. I don't remember the specifics but I think it was worse than passport photo or whatever. Anyone know? Do they still have it?

    2.5/2 = 1.25 ;)

Didn't notice this excludes VAT. It's not for me anyway. Ikoula's network is meh at best.

Does anyone have a bench for one of these yet?

  • This is a great offer, but I would have loved to see just 4GB in microSD card for the operating system, and 12gb like some network storage, because I can't possibly trust microSD cards in the long term.

hmm ya, however, with VAT you end close to 5 ish, so I keep mine at the sweet spot below 3.
I think paying 5€ for that thing is not worth it.

  • Did anyone else face problems with recieving sms code? I have tried it many times now?

If you use the coupon code its only 50% though?

Anyway my plan is to first test xen on arm and try some tiny little xen nat boxes and then give up on that very quickly and install amibian on it and have a nice commodore Amiga remote desktop to play amiga games on... why? because I can.

    sounds like fun!

  • That is the same price for Hetzner CX11 (2.49EUR ex. VAT), not sure if it would be worth it. Hosting one at home would be another story.

did 1:1 NAT because I wasn't able to figure out how to do it better so far.

    Runs great.
    Quite easy to do.

If you need help with that I may write a guide in a spare minute.

@vish said: Does anyone have a bench for one of these yet?

I got someone to do a simple speed test on a pi4 some time back:

    time echo "scale = 2000; 4*a(1)" | bc -l

That computes pi to 2000 decimal places. It took 3.9 sec on a pi4 vs 9.6s on my KS-2E which has an N2800 Atom cpu, same as the KS-1 if I'm not mistaken. Then figure that the pi4 has 4 cpu cores while the N2800 has 2 cores with 4 threads. This is just one microbenchmark but it does make the pi4 sound likely to be quite a lot faster. Same test on i7-3770 is about 1.7 sec.

I'd add to this: the 4 cores plus the 120gb ssd (if there is no extra charge for the disk) make this way superior to a CX-11 for pure compute/storage resources. Come to think of it though, getting the 120gb ssd for free is surprising. Can someone confirm? It makes more sense if it's 32gb sdxc for free or 120gb usb disk if you pay extra for it. And I have to wonder if the 120gb ssd is a "real" ssd or a cheap usb pen drive.

Is the offer sold out now? I don't really want one but it is kinda tempting, as people keep saying.

The SSD was an extra €5.00 (€2.50 discounted), only the 16GB SD option was included in the base package.

Looks that way, can't order now.

Edit: Seems to be back in stock now
