That is quite awesome :D Thanks for sharing!

  • How’s the performance like for the SSDs?

    Capped I/O?

same here, it's only the disk space that makes it a bit more interesting. luckily the IO limitations seems to put it quite into the range of just somewhat cached HDD and the geekbench is even worse. 500 single score isn't Epyc worthy and scaling to 900 on a 4 core VPS? nah. pass.

Thats why I moved, got VPS with single core score higher then the 4 cores.
Not to mention the nice CPU steal and software interrupt so the only only thing was the amount of diskspace.

It's prepaid, you are not under contract (like on e.g. netcup).

    Minimum cancellation notice:
    None (pre-paid) or 4 weeks (post-paid)

So, just let it expire if you don't need it.

As I know, Contabo overbooks there machines.

  • It's a pretty good offer, that extra disk space is really tempting. I was lucky enough to have my both servers hosted on good nodes (no cpu steal) and without having the I/O rates reverted as I've read about in some comments. Wonder if I should push my luck once more.

  • The 400gb is the 200gb that's already usually part of the plan, plus another 200gb added amirite? So only the extra 200gb is "free". Anyway it still seems like a pass given the persistent crummy benches among other things. All in all I'm happy with a smaller ssd (50gb is really plenty) and a much bigger disk of spinning rust.

New disk speed yabs, and I'm waiting for some CPU power in work-days.. It's Sunday and I guess their staff is not working.
    For 4.99€ / mo. Nice.

Don't expect too much from Contabo. It's known that they are overbooking there Systems.

  • That is a pretty low benchmark right? I have lost track of this stuff.

Yeah, disk is hard capped and you can get unlucky with overloaded processor

  • Thanks. I'd wonder what to do with a product like this. I wonder how much ram pressure there is. If the iops cap means they are really able to deliver 1k iops consistently then I guess it is better than a dedicated HDD. But there is also the cpu. Hmm.

    Thanked by (1)Ympker
  • Is Contabo uptime high? Should I use it in production?
Read a lot about Contabe but I haven't give them a try.
