This is not a rant or a plug, but sharing my (so far pleasant) experience of using LLM for re creating a wordpress/classicpress plugin for image galleries.

As a once regular buyer of Lifetime SaaS deals, I have seen my fair share of good products, dead products, and founders/ companies that screwed the early buyers.

Modula, a once shiny, friendly image gallery plugin, is one such tool. The tools at Modula - also known as management team- crippled the features for the Lifetime licenses. The original license offered CDN (Speedup) ability to watermark the images, etc. These features now require an "Upgrade".

Frustrated by this mooning of Lifetime deal holders by Modula, I decided to ask grok (X) if a similar plugin could be created. Now AI generated software/ features/ plugins etc evoke mixed feelings, so I will limit this post by saying- the idea worked, and worked rather well.

The plugin solves one of my biggest pet peeves- adding external images via picsum, cdn, etc. Even now, external images cannot be linked in modula galleries. Additionally, the ai generated plugin includes orientation (separate default dimensions for portrait, landscape, square images...) watermark, and video embeds. Most importantly, it works out of the box in ClassicPress, which is a huge plus for me.

If you would like to try the prompt on your own LLM : https://img.gstry.in/n/BVUlSL

If you would like to try the plugin to check under the hood (usual caveats apply- check the code, do not use on live/ production site, etc) : https://img.gstry.in/f/KHd9U8

As always, open to suggestions, ideas and other feedback.

Note: Most of the features listed under "Trio" were included in the original Lifetime License deal
