Slow Servers hosted on Secondhand Systems in Spokane, Washington, with (hopefully) Satisfactory Service.

Host servers are designed to be efficient and use less energy than they otherwise could. Datacenter building was built in the late 1800s and is locally owned. Very non-corporate, small scale operation that doesn't fund megacorps + AI expansion. Slow Servers is deliberately not the latest-and-greatest by any means.

Hosts run OpenBSD and VPSs are hosted under VMM. Unfortunately, this limits all plans to one vCPU. ECC DDR3 memory is utilized.

Plans are generally billed annually.

Routed /64 IPv6 allocations are included. IPv4 is $1.00/month extra.

$3/month: 768MiB of memory, 24GiB of disk, 384GB/month transfer

$4/month: 1GiB of memory, 32GiB of disk, 512GB/month transfer

$6/month: 1.5GiB of memory, 48GiB of disk, 768GB/month transfer

$8/month: 2GiB of memory, 64GiB of disk, 1TB/month transfer

$12/month: 3GiB of memory, 96GiB of disk, 1.5TB/month transfer

$16/month: 4GiB of memory, 128GiB of disk, 2TB/month transfer

$24/month: 6GiB of memory, 192GiB of disk, 3TB/month transfer

$32/month: 8GiB of memory, 256GiB of disk, 4TB/month transfer

$48/month: 12GiB of memory, 384GiB of disk, 6TB/month transfer

$64/month: 16GiB of memory, 512GiB of disk, 8TB/month transfer

Despite the low performance, I'm able to successfully run Bitcoin and Monero nodes. Even the SporeStack website and API is hosted on Slow Servers.

Guest OS Options:

OpenBSD

Debian

Alpine

All servers are currently served by a 100Mbit/sec uplink that is not yet very utilized. Once Slow Servers grows enough and start to see notable traffic on that connection, I'll upgrade to gigabit. The infrastructure is not yet fully redundant as far as network routing goes. RAID 1 is not utilized and backups are recommended for any important data (as they still would be with RAID 1.)

You can see pictures of most of the hosts and of the 1/3 cabinet on the website.

If you use Gemini, you can access the Gemini-native site: gemini://slowservers.net

Also available as a Tor Hidden Service: gemini://slowsvr7rgnkzuoma5byw34n2mkkg6v7g5q6qxqaihh7zikp5wn26fid.onion/

Of course, HTTPS is also available: https://slowservers.net/ (This is the link that most of you will probably use.)

And on the same Tor Hidden Service: http://slowsvr7rgnkzuoma5byw34n2mkkg6v7g5q6qxqaihh7zikp5wn26fid.onion/

For test IPs, you can use slowservers.net's AAAA/A records.

Provisioning is currently not automated. Expect orders to typically be fulfilled within 48 hours.

You can sign up via SSH and be given cryptocurrency payment instructions. You can even use the Tor Hidden Service for that process. Hosts also have Tor Hidden Service endpoints to connect via SSH for serial, start, and stop.

Some additional features:

SNIProxy, SOCKS, and IPv4 SSH port forwarding for IPv6-only servers.

Slave DNS.

Reverse DNS.

Free subdomains on ssvr.net.

Local, partial OpenBSD mirror.

This is certainly not a service for everyone, but I believe it fills a niche for some. Lots of other good providers out there.

If you have any questions, please ask!
