Hi everyone,

Some of you might remember me mentioning this project here over the past months while it was still being built.

Today, we finally launched WHMDC (WHMDeskCloud).

It’s a self-hosted hosting automation and billing platform built for hosting providers.

The project originally started after repeatedly running into limitations with existing hosting automation platforms and wanting to experiment with a system where most functionality is included in the core instead of relying on endless paid modules.

Some of the things included:

• unlimited client and service management
• automated billing and invoicing
• built-in support ticket system
• infrastructure integrations
• operational intelligence (revenue visibility, support performance, infrastructure awareness)

We’re a small team based in England, and today is launch day, so feedback from the community would genuinely mean a lot.

Website:
https://whmdc.com

A question for hosting providers here:

If you were switching to a new automation platform today, what would be the one feature you would absolutely need it to have?

Happy to answer questions and hear what people think.

Looking at some interesting charts today https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/trends/price/internal-hard-drive/#storage.ssdm2nvme.1000

showing around a 60 - 125% (roughly) increase in NVMe prices in just 3 months, and with a few big names like WD recently announcing that they have already sold all stock for 2026 to AI/Top 10 customers, 2027 being close to the same position and its expected all manufacturors will be in the same position within weeks or months and that will extend to 2028 in some cases.... things are going to get MUCH worse some casual bro science reading suggests 1000% increase by 2027.

The thing with NVMe is the 2nd hard market is terrible, you literally cant trust them and NVMe in general have a much shorter life than spinning rust.

I am wondering what this really means, if you think LE hosts are going to be paying $5000 per 1TB NVMe (Not even considering RAM and Power Prices) and selling at $7 you are delusional.

I wonder if we will start to see more NVMe cached options come up, HDD's are still expensive, not NVMe expensive and have a much longer life span.

I know many of you will turn your nose up at this and want low price, fast and reliable, but with the recent OVH and Hetzner corrective steps are you going to be willing to pay double or triple for a VPS or would you rather stick to the cheaper options and reduce your requirements (optimise)

Maybe the $7 is about to self-correct anyway, after all the recent talk about it.

An interesting few years ahead.

Just sent this out to all existing customers, so posting here for anyone else:

Hello,

First off, apologies for the inconvenience of closing up the (public) shop. This is a pretty tough decision but I'll explain below why.

TL:DR: I'm closing up all public sales and existing services will run out at the end of march, payments will be suspended - no further payments by the end of next week.

TL:DR Why: Ram prices. NVMe Prices. HDD Prices.

And if you'd like a more reasonable explanation below:

Z Plus LLC started off hosting individuals and projects relating to MLP, and our infrastructure got large enough that we had a lot of spare capacity to handle hundreds of clients that had nothing to do with ponies. So we went public, and because I liked low end deals and made a lot of friends in the market, that's what we did. Margins are small / non existent. Prices are cheap because the infrastructure is already there - we're just selling excess capacity to make a bit back on mostly hardware that would already be running.

We got semi popular, I've had a couple hundred clients thoughout the past few years, dealing with issues and fixing things up. Uptime's been pretty good since I sunk a new-car's worth of cash into rebuilding our infrastructure. And that's great, and then came along the Sloperators. Who absolutely NEED AI.

The real reason we're closing isn't because I'm tired of dealing with support tickets, or because we're not making money off of this side of the business (we aren't I assure you). It's because the entirety of everyone getting this message is running on a VERY nice AMD Ryzen 9900x server with 192GB of DDR5 ram. Why's that you ask? If this server has a bad ram stick it legitimately makes more financial sense to power it off, than replace it.

There are not enough clients to cover the cost of 1 48GB ddr ram stick in 6 months. Don't get me started on 4TB NVMes. Corpos have started slorping up consumer drives too, and with crucial out of the pool and skhynix out of the pool it's gotten worse.

My love for making good deals, upholding promises, and providing what people pay for far outweigh the downsides of tickets and potential headaches. So Z Plus will come back, eventually. But for now, if something went wrong I could not reasonably afford repairs, and it's not fair to you, the client.

Some of you have considerable amounts of data stored, if you need extensions on getting data out of our network please reach out to me and I'll keep the lights on to make sure you're set. If you are a client hosting open source software, or fandom projects please reach out - Z Plus will continue to provide support and VPSs in support of projects at no cost. If you are a client using Z Plus IP Transport and you've got this email, you can disregard the email as there are no changes to our IP Transport.

Also, if you've read all the way though, thank you. I appreciate your patronage and regret the situation that the world is in at the moment.

I'll be slowly disabiling the payment methods and no new orders will be processed, once done everyone's servers as is right now should continue running, without payment, till we shut down that section of the infrastructure.

The billing instance will remain up, as this is used in support of all of the projects we host for free as part of our ongoing open source and fandom support initiative.

Despite the grim news, we're not actually deadpooling. We own all of the hardware and are under no duress or hurry. I legitimately can't justify the expense of repairing the infrastructure if something goes wrong, basic fixes like a single bad ram stick are more money than Z Plus takes in as revenue within 6 months. This was tolerable when a ram stick could be covered in 3 months of service.

It wouldn't be right by the consumer, client, for me to continue operating in such an unsustainable fashion. Before the AI price spikes were were operating pretty much net neutral, and I did it for the love of the game really. I enjoy the process, and love the community. I'd hate for something to go wrong and THEN be like "Oops all your apes gone" in regards to people's data (VM or storage wise).

I'll be back with better offers sometime after the market figures itself out, perhaps I might end up with some of those Sloperator machines after the bubble pops... No sane data center on earth will let you colo one with them after that bubble bursts.

Regardless, thanks for being with me though this, and apologies for the bad news.

WHMDC is nearly here and pre-launch testing is live!

We’re close. After a huge amount of building, refining, and real-world testing, WHMDC is now in its final stretch before launch.

If you run a hosting business (or you’re building one) and you’d like to install WHMDC in your environment to test it properly - we want you involved. Get in touch and we’ll issue a testing licence so you can run WHMDC on your own stack and tell us what needs polishing before launch.

What is WHMDC?

WHMDC is a next-generation billing and automation platform built specifically for hosting providers - designed to cover the day-to-day operations of a modern web host without the mess of bolted-on add-ons, paid extras, or fragile third-party patches.

It’s self-hosted, written in modern PHP, and built to be fast, clean, and predictable - with the features hosting companies actually use, baked into the core.

Everything you need is baked in (no premium “must-have” modules)

One of the biggest pain points in this industry is the “module hunt” - where the core platform gets you 60% of the way there, then you spend months stitching together paid add-ons to fill the gaps.

WHMDC takes a different approach: core-first. The essential stuff is included from day one, and every plan is built around unlimited usage (clients, invoices, services - the lot).

Billing & invoicing with pro-rata, renewal invoices, payment reminders, late fees, credits, and multi-currency support.

Payments with built-in gateways and a modern checkout experience.

Domain management with registrar integrations and full lifecycle handling.

Support system with departments, priorities, file attachments, knowledge base, reporting, and status pages.

Client portal designed for real self-service: invoices, payments, tickets, domains, services, and account management in one place.

Hosting automation with control panel integrations and provisioning workflows.

Security that’s built for 2026 - not 2012.

Built-in integrations that hosting businesses actually need

WHMDC includes native integrations across the areas that matter most, without forcing you into a marketplace just to make your billing platform usable.

Payments

Accept payments how your customers want to pay - cards, wallets, direct debit, and more - with modern payment gateways ready to go.

Domains

Search, register, renew, transfer, and manage domains through registrar integrations and proper lifecycle automation.

Fraud & security

Modern protection is not optional. WHMDC includes native support for fraud scoring and multiple CAPTCHA providers - plus passwordless login via passkeys.

Provisioning & control panels

Automate provisioning and management using common control panels and server platforms, with single sign-on options to reduce support load and friction.

Comms: Slack, live chat, and SMS

Route events where your team actually works - support ticket alerts, payment notifications, and key system events - plus SMS messaging for OTP, reminders, and notifications with a large provider selection.

Email

Send transactional mail, invoices, and notifications using built-in support for Microsoft 365, Gmail, and standard SMTP.

Why WHMDC over WHMCS or Blesta?

Let’s be fair: WHMCS and Blesta have been around for years - and they’ve powered a lot of hosting companies. But the market has changed, and expectations have changed.

WHMDC is built as a modern alternative, and focuses heavily on:

Modern authentication (including passwordless login with passkeys).

Security controls that are practical for hosting ops (including stronger access controls and bot protection options).

A core feature set designed to reduce module sprawl - so you spend less time stitching and more time running your business.

Self-hosted control: your server, your rules, your data.

Clear, simple plans with unlimited usage and everything included.

We’re not here to throw shade - we’re here to give hosts a platform that feels like it was built by people who actually run hosting businesses.

Want to test WHMDC in your environment? We’ll issue a testing licence

If you want to install WHMDC on your own server and give proper feedback (installation, automation flows, client portal UX, billing edge cases, etc.), we’d love to get you set up.

What we’re looking for from testers:

Install WHMDC in a staging environment (not production).

Run through the real flows: checkout, invoice generation, payment capture, service provisioning, ticket lifecycle.

Try your own configurations: currency, taxes, payment methods, email delivery, security settings.

Report bugs or friction points - the small stuff matters.

To get access: create your account, then message us to request a testing licence. Once activated, you’ll be able to access downloads and start testing.

Help us ship this properly

WHMDC is built with a simple goal: give hosting providers a platform that’s powerful, modern, and actually pleasant to run - without hidden “gotchas”, feature gates, or endless add-ons.

If you want to be part of the final push, get in touch and we’ll sort you a testing licence.

WHMDC is a fully self-hosted billing and automation system written in pure PHP 8 + MySQL, with zero Composer or framework dependencies, allowing it to run smoothly on low-resource VPS, shared hosting environments, or any standard PHP stack.

It provides a complete end-to-end solution for managing clients, services, domains, automation, invoicing, support, payments and more!

Just some of the 109+ (and growing) Features

• Modern responsive UI
• Pretty URL routing (no query strings)
• Stripe, PayPal, Bank Transfer gateways
• Registrar modules: eNom + Domainbox
• Invoices, services, tickets, quotes, credits
• Multi-currency + pro-rata billing
• Domain search + TLD pricing manager
• Passkeys (WebAuthn) + email 2FA
• Modular plugin system (gateways, servers, registrars)
• Auto Login (cPanel hosting accounts auto login from the client dashboard)
• 109+ core features included as standard
• Entirely self-hosted, putting you back in control

Why WHMDC Is Entering the Market

The hosting industry has relied heavily on WHMCS for more than a decade.
While it remains widely used, many providers have expressed ongoing concerns about:

Software aging & legacy code

Increasing dependency complexity

Framework overhead

Recurring subscription costs

Paid add-ons for essential functionality

Slow UI evolution

Limited transparency around roadmap updates

WHMDC aims to offer a fresh approach:

1. Lightweight Architecture

Pure PHP 8, no frameworks, no Composer—ideal for low-resource VPS and cPanel.

2. Full Feature Access

All premium features included as standard, not locked behind add-ons.

3. Modern Security Standards

Built-in passkeys, stronger session controls, and clean routing.

4. Predictable Ownership

Self-hosted, no locking, no forced ecosystem, no per-client billing.

5. Modern UI and UX

Clean, minimal, modern interface for both admin and client areas.

WHMDC is currently preparing for wider public release.
Discussion, technical feedback, and industry perspectives are welcome, especially from providers interested in self-hosted alternatives or modern PHP 8 application design.

C-Servers Announces Migration to VirtFusion-Based VPS Services

At C-Servers, we are continuously committed to refining our commercial offering and delivering reliable, high-performance services at competitive prices. Throughout such a process, we actively listen to our customers and incorporate their feedback accordingly.

Following sustained user feedback and the recent in-house development of a provisioning module for our billing platform, WiseCP, we have taken the difficult decision to deprecate SolusVM 2 as our primary VPS management panel.

And, as of 23 December 2025, C-Servers will begin to market VirtFusion-based VPS services on our main offerings, under the MultiVPS and JumboDisk product tiers - starting with our new server in Falkenstein, Germany.

The VirtFusion platform will also be adopted progressively across product launches and new service lines in additional locations, as well as existing VPS services, with customer migrations planned to begin in 2026, ensuring a controlled and smooth transition to our existing customers - as much as possible.

Why Transition from an Established Platform?

This decision was not taken lightly.

When SolusVM was originally selected, it followed extensive internal testing and was, at the time, aligned with our requirements for usability and customer experience. However, as our infrastructure and customer base have grown, several structural and operational limitations became progressively clear.

The primary driver behind this transition is network and NAT handling. SolusVM’s long-standing lack of native NAT functionality has led us to seek external implementations, which introduced complexity and operational friction. Over the past 12 months, we observed repeated customer difficulties related to NAT usage, resulting in avoidable support overhead and, of course, the natural inconvenience it brought.

In addition, several other usability difficulties influenced our decision, including:

» Manual intervention requirements when virtual machines fail to restart automatically after host reboots, impacting overall uptime,

» Specific, occasional Open vSwitch-configured network discovery behaviors causing (very punctually) added latency, which only started to occur after a relevant number of VPS users were on dedicated servers;

» Backup tooling limitations, particularly performance and throughput.

Advantages of VirtFusion

With VirtFusion, we are introducing a more modern, resilient, and scalable architecture. We are explicitly abandoning our previous NAT system through socat and NAT64/DNS64, and we are focusing on a DNS-direct, NAT-direct solution.

Whenever possible, we'll use MacVTap; but on NAT solutions, we're now using libvirt bridging paired with Cloudflare DNS servers.

Other improvements include:
» Expanded NAT port allocations, increasing from 10+5 to 20+3 ports,
» Full support for standard IPv4-to-IPv4 service hosting, compatibility with all common web hosting control panels, and customer-managed NAT port ranges.

These changes significantly enhance flexibility, performance, and overall value for VPS customers—particularly for networking-intensive workloads.

Beyond networking, customers will also experience relevant improvements in usability, performance consistency, and operational/uptime reliability, delivered through a platform that is both widely adopted and well-established in the industry.

Importantly, this transition does not materially affect pricing, which solely increases on the range of 0,10 USD per month for newer customers. Of course, upon migration, existing customers will retain their current pricing with C-Servers.

So, when will it be available?

The first VirtFusion-based MultiVPS plans will be available for immediate deployment starting at 11h00 GMT +0, at our website.

A new chapter awaits - and with you, more than ever before, we are making sure you C-Servers.
Merry Christmas!

Hi all,

This message found by inbox recently:

Dear Customer,

We would like to inform you that, starting with your next service renewal, C1V Hosting – Lumanex S.r.l.
will update the fees for VPS, VPN, and Hosting services, as required by Article 11 of the General Contract
Conditions.
In recent months, infrastructure, energy, and connectivity costs have increased significantly across the
market, and in parallel, C1V Hosting – Lumanex S.r.l. has embarked on a process of technical and
qualitative improvement of its services.
We have strengthened our data centers, redundancy systems, and distribution network, with the aim of
ensuring higher performance, greater stability, and greater resilience for all active services.
To support these investments and continue to offer professional-level reliability and security standards,
starting with your next renewal, the fees for VPS, VPN, and Hosting services will be increased by €2.50/
month (or €30.00/year for annual plans). The price increase excludes VAT.
The new price will take effect automatically, unless you cancel within 90 days of this notice.
If you do not wish to accept the change, you may exercise your right of withdrawal without penalty within
90 days by logging into your customer area and selecting "My services → Withdrawal" on our website, or
by contacting us through the support portal https://helpdesk.c1vhosting.it/index.php?a=add&catid=19.
If you decide to exercise your right of withdrawal within the aforementioned period (90 days from
notification), C1V Hosting – Lumanex S.r.l. will fully refund the Customer all amounts paid for the Service
following the adjustment, within 14 (fourteen) days of the date of notification of withdrawal, using the
same payment method you used.
Any additional advance payments will be refunded in accordance with applicable law and the applicable
contractual terms and conditions.
However, if no cancellation is made within this period, the change will be deemed accepted and fully
effective.

We thank you for your trust and cooperation.

C1V Hosting – Lumanex S.r.l.
Customer Service

Any regular here will have had their fair warning with the provider, but for some services the low reliability was high enough taking in account the low price for the VPS.

As such I've had fun with the offers. With 30 Euro's added on a yearly basis, that obviously is not the case anymore.

September 28, 2025

Free VPS Giveaways

During its first and second month of life, FOSSVPS has given away and clients are using 47 (up from 34 last month) excellent free and open source VPSes on server Nodes in London ( OnlyServers ), Los Angeles ( @fmxm ), and Chisinau ( Alexhost ).

FOSSVPS plans to continue giving away excellent free and open source VPSes to support and develop everyone's understanding of computer operating systems and the internet.

Server Node Sponsors

FOSSVPS has received the three above listed server Node sponsorships. Grateful thanks to @dan_onlyservers, @alexhost, and @fmxm!

All three Node sponsors renewed their donations this month! London and Chisinau now expire in January, and Los Angeles now expires in November.

Alexhost also contributed additional IPv4 addresses this month.

FOSSVPS seeks additional server Nodes in additional locations. If you are a Provider interested in contributing a server Node, please post here or contact @Not_Oles by Personal Message.

Volunteers

@babywhale used his fine BashVM to make the VPSes in London and Los Angeles.

@Not_Oles makes the VPSes in Chisinau by hand with cloud-init and virt-install.

@cmeerw, @BasToTheMax, @FrankCastle, @TheOnlyDK, @Starnberg, @Jollie, and several others are providing friendly help and suggestions.

Additional volunteers could help with Node monitoring, communications, client support, and additional tasks according to their interests, skills, and inclinations. Please contact @Not_Oles if you would like to volunteer.

VPS Technical Issues

@Not_Oles missed a space in a yaml configuration file on the Chisinau node. So Alexhost's newly assigned IPv4 addresses did initially seem to work! Not Alexhost's fault! More details: 1, 2, and 3.

Funding

Income

Last month a $50.00 contribution was received toward the cost of registering FOSSVPS as a non-profit. This month, an additional $20.00 contribution was received. Thanks again to @R3M1NE!

Expenses

Twenty dollars were used toward the cost of an additional month of the LA server.

Financial Projection

Plans are to proceed with FOSSVPS formal registration as soon as the approximately $210.00 cost of the registration is available. When registration is completed, plans are to apply for 501(c)(3) status from the IRS. It supports the 501(c)(3) status if the clear majority of donated funds come from the general public rather than from any single source. If you want to help fund FOSSVPS' registration, please contact @Not_Oles.

Fiscal Sponsorship

Pending FOSSVPS' registration and 501(c)(3) status, Everyone Bandwidth, Inc. (EoB8) kindly has established a Fiscal Sponsorship with FOSSVPS. The Fiscal Sponsorship allows 501(c)(3) approved FOSSVPS contributions to be made through EoB8 via Paypal at this link. Under the Fiscal Sponsorship, Eob8 supervises distribution of the contributions to ensure that the contributions are used consistently with EoB8's charitable purposes.

Hurricane Electric Colocation -- Hardware Request

Eob8 has arranged for FOSSVPS to receive free colocation at Hurricane Electric ("HE") in Fremont, California. For the HE colocation FOSSVPS requests a donation of server hardware suitable for virtualization and distribution of free VPSes. Anyone wishing to donate a server is requested to contact @Not_Oles.

Communications and Client Support

The FOSSVPS website was expanded this month to add a page for tracking VPS Requests.

FOSSVPS email services are functioning, including Not_Oles@ and support@.

A Discord server was created last month.

Plans include adding VPS tutorials to the website.

Client Services Panel

A FOSSBilling instance was installed was installed last month. Plans are to use an open source client services panel.

VPS Control Panel

KVM VPSes presently are being installed with Ubuntu 24.04 LTS. With help from @FrankCastle a test VPS has been configured and is functioning with VNC and PXE booting. With the VNC and PXE arrangement, and a suggestion from @cmeerw, FOSSVPS clients could install any OS from any official image, plus reinstall, start, stop, or reboot their VPS.

Node Resource Monitoring

Node load averages, memory, disk usage, and network data are checked frequently. Plans include implementing a public resource monitoring page.

Thanks

Thanks to LES, OGF, Nodeseek, and our entire Low End community for providing a place where FOSSVPS and all of us can grow and flourish! Thanks to @fmxm, OnlyServers, and Alexhost for their server contributions! Thanks to EoB8 for their Fiscal Sponsorship! Special thanks to our direct financial donors!

Dear Users of LowendSpirit!

Some of you know who I am, some don't.
As the owner of mrVM, I have been here since the dawn of LES as a Provider but lately haven't had the time to be as active as I used to be.

About a year ago, probably longer, I announced that I was about to pass the ownership over to another Provider here on LES.
At that time, the Provider was never revealed and the shift came to a complete stop due to my lack of time, and for that I can only apologize.

The history behind this is that I left my employment to become my own consultant in IT-services 30 months ago.
Eager to get everything running and inexperienced as a newcomer on the playing field, I accepted (almost) every job opportunity that I came across which pretty soon bit me right in the bee-hind.

At this point I worked 60+ hours a week with my new company, on top of that, I have three active kids and mrVM was the part of my life that I had to neglect.

Earlier this week I reached out to the Provider I had talked with and asked if he was still interested and he was.

With this post, a new try has begun to make a proper takeover this time.
Guess it's time to reveal the new Provider and I'm sure all, or most of you know of him.

@SGraf, welcome up on stage and take a bow.

I choose @SGraf among other interested Providers due to his experience in the hosting business and successful saves of other Providers.

Today marks the day when @SGraf gets access to WHMCS data and the work to inventory all nodes and current status.

As part of the agreement between us, the current number of nodes and locations will be intact.
A new client panel will be installed and ONLY customers who want to stay, will be migrated over.

I will let @SGraf present a crude time plan as I will let him take the lead and dictate the migration speed.

With this (short) post, I will open the comments for a quick AMA....... and I will do my best to answer every question.

Here in Sweden, it's almost bedtime, so I might be AFK and not answer any questions for some time.... until the kids sleep.

I woke up to this huge disappointment, I really love my crunchbit services and it is a shame they will be ending at the end of their billing cycle

Dear XXXX

We are reaching out to inform you of an important update regarding our Yearly/Promotional VPS plans. After careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to discontinue this product line. This change is effective immediately for renewals, but we will honor all existing plans through their current paid terms. We understand that this may come as a disappointment to some of you, and for that, we sincerely apologize. While many of you have been wonderful customers, this product line has presented unique challenges. A significant portion of these plans have resulted in disproportionate abuse and support demands compared to our other offerings. Despite our best efforts, this has created an unsustainable situation as the problems continue to resurface and continue to remain and/or grow with time. The only alternative to this would be implementing strict KYC/identification policies and limitations on all customer accounts which we are absolutely not willing to do. This has been limiting our ability to focus on other improvements across our entire platform. We greatly appreciate your business and want to provide as smooth a transition as possible. Here are the options available to you:

Your Options:

Pro-Rated Refund & Early Cancellation

If you prefer to cancel your service now and receive a prorated refund please let us know by opening a ticket and we will issue a prorated refund from November 1, 2024 until your due date. Services will remain active until at least November 30, 2024. We understand the need for clarity and will do our best to assist with your transition if this option suits your needs.

Continue Your Service Until the End of Your Paid Term

If you'd like to continue using your VPS until the end of your prepaid term (no matter the length), we will fully honor the remaining time. To choose this option, you do not have to do anything. Additionally, we’re happy to offer a recurring discount to transition to one of our upgraded VPS products at the end of your term—or even sooner if you wish to move early with a prorated refund for the remainder of your time. Our DIY VPS lineup is competitively priced and may align with your needs, though there may be slight differences in specifications.

Additional Notes:

If your due date is before December 1, 2024, your plan will be automatically extended at no cost until December 1, to ensure fairness during this transition.
IPv4 Renumbering: Separately, and unrelated to just the Yearly plans, we will be renumbering all VPSs in the 38.0.0.0/8 IPv4 space. This is due to a recent AUP change by Cogent, which has created operational risks by threatening to revoke BGP sessions/announcements for unrelated and lawful content hosted in our separate completely non-Cogent facilities. To safeguard your rights and maintain stability, we have already secured new IP space and affected customers will be notified of migration details soon.

If your situation is unique or not well-covered by the options above, you should still open a support ticket and our team will do their best to assist you. We are open to helping you and finding a solution for our early supporters. We do value your business and the trust you’ve placed in us. While this was not an easy decision, we are committed to improving our services and ensuring that we can better meet the needs of existing and new customers moving forward and making sure our efforts are focused on supporting them rather than continually cleaning up messes left by abusers.

Thank you for your understanding and support.

Sincerely,
Eric Yingling

Hey folks,

Wanted to share an important update about MicroNode hosting. I’ve decided to roll all of the packages into one simple, consolidated option — the Snowflake Plan which is 15 USD a year.

👉 The Snowflake Plan:

512 MB RAM

20 GB Disk Space

500 GB Bandwidth

What this means:

Existing clients: All existing clients have been moved to this plan and will keep it until the end of their respective terms.

Future clients: everything is now standardized to the Snowflake Plan. This makes things easier to manage on the backend and ensures that resources are allocated more fairly across the board.

The reason for doing this is pretty simple — I’d rather focus on running a stable and sustainable platform than splitting resources across too many tiny plan tiers. This keeps the service affordable, reliable, and fair to everyone.

If you want to grab a Snowflake instance, you can get one here:
👉 Sign Up Now!!

Thanks again to everyone who’s supported MicroNode — you’ve helped me keep this community-driven project alive.

Today, August 25, 2025, is FOSSVPS' one month birthday!

Here is a report on FOSSVPS' first month achievements and plans for the near future.

Free VPS Giveaways

During this first month, FOSSVPS has given away and clients are using 34 excellent free and open source VPSes on server Nodes in London ( Onlyservers ), Los Angeles ( @fmxm ), and Chisinau ( Alexhost ).

FOSSVPS plans to continue giving away excellent free and open source VPSes to support and develop everyone's understanding of computer operating systems and the internet.

Server Node Sponsors

FOSSVPS has received the three above listed server Node sponsorships. Grateful thanks to @dan_onlyservers, @Alexhostcom, and @fmxm!

FOSSVPS seeks additional server Nodes in additional locations. If you are a Provider interested in contributing, please post here or contact @Not_Oles by Personal Message.

Volunteers

@babywhale has used his fine BashVM to make the VPSes in London and Los Angeles.

@Not_Oles has made the VPSes in Chisinau with cloud-init and virt-install.

@AuroraZero has provided free hosting for the FOSSVPS website on YetiNode.

@cmeerw, @BasToTheMax, @FrankCastle, @TheOnlyDK, and several others are providing friendly help and suggestions.

Additional volunteers could help with Node monitoring, communications, client support, and additional tasks according to their interests, skills, and inclinations. Please contact @Not_Oles if you would like to volunteer.

Funding

A $50.00 contribution has been received toward the cost of registering FOSSVPS as a non-profit. Plans are to proceed with the registration as soon as the approximately $210.00 cost of the registration is available. When registration is completed, plans are to apply for 501(c)(3) status from the IRS. It supports the 501(c)(3) status if the clear majority of donated funds come from the general public rather than from any single source. If you want to help fund FOSSVPS' registration, please contact @Not_Oles.

Communications and Client Support

A website has been set up for FOSSVPS. Email services are functioning, including support@fossvps.org. A Discord server has been created. Near future plans include adding VPS tutorials to the website.

Client Services Panel

A FOSSBilling instance has been installed and is being configured and tested. Plans are to use an open source client services panel.

VPS Control Panel

So far, VPSes have been pre-installed with Debian 12 (13 for the next set) or Ubuntu 24.04 LTS. With help from @FrankCastle a test VPS has been configured and is functioning with VNC and PXE booting. With the VNC and PXE arrangement, FOSSVPS clients could install any OS from any official image, plus reinstall, start, stop, or reboot their VPS.

Node Resource Monitoring

Node load averages, memory, disk usage, and network data are checked frequently. Plans include implementing a public resource monitoring page.

Low End

Thanks to Low End Talk, Low End Spirit, Nodeseek, and our entire Low End community for providing a place where FOSSVPS and all of us can grow and flourish!

Hi!

Due to ongoing network issues with our infrastructure in our Netherlands location we are conducting an emergency data center migration from Skylink in Eygelshoven to Databarn in Amsterdam on 29.07.2025 08:00 CEST

We are aware that the Emergency Data Center Migration happens on short notice, but we have to weigh up the ongoing network issues and the impact of a short-notice migration.

The last few weeks we prepared the infrastructure in our new Netherlands location in Amsterdam. For more details regarding the data center, check out https://www.databarn.nl

Please ensure you have up to date backups at hand before the shutdown of the servers for the migration.

More details regarding the Emergency Data Center Migration:

On 29.07.2025 at 08:00 CEST we will start shutting down servers and packaging them.

At around 11:00 CEST we expect to start the journey towards Amsterdam and expect to arrive at 15:00 CEST.

We start installing the servers after our arrival and expect to be done at around 22:00 CEST.

Your service will be started by us automatically after the migration.

Updates will be available at https://status.heartbeat-it.com

The client area will be under maintenance during the migration. You will receive 7 days towards your due date as compensation.

Thank you for your ongoing support. We strive to get back to better standards and back to the service quality we were able to offer in the past.

If you have questions regarding the migration, please feel free to contact us via support ticket.

Kind Regards,

heartbeat IT - Team

Just sent this out to all clients on the original hardware we did black friday sales with last year. Everyone's getting a free upgrade to Ryzen 9900x from E5-2690v4's.

"Hello,

This migration impacts all clients who are using 2TB, 3.5TB and 5TB Storage VM services.

Good news:

Everyone gets to keep the same specs (CPU cores, RAM, Storage space) in addition to getting upgraded from Xeon E5-2690v4 to Ryzen 9900x CPU.
There is no need to migrate data manually across servers - I will handle this in a specific set of steps outlined below, note that action needs to be taken.
You get a month or so of free service as compensation for the inevitable downtime.

Bad news:

Your IP addresses will change, due to the newer system being on a different sub-block in the network.
You will have to purchase the new plan yourself, and submit a ticket once you've done so, and it's clear for me to migrate your VM's disks to the new VM.

Our software doesn't let me transfer clients from one host to another host since our hosts are not linked using a cluster. This obviously complicates things, but it's really just an inconvenience, and tearing down a cluster is surprisingly hard.

To repurchase see the list below for link and 1 month free code:
[list removed for posting here on LES]

Add to cart, and finish purchasing using the provided promo code. If you wanted to take this chance to get a bigger VM, that's fine too. Please don't share this outside of the ticket however as this is limited to only active clients. Thank you.

After purchasing, please create a ticket once you're ready to have your original VM shut down, and the vm disks moved to the new server.
Please note that by default all servers have cloud-init enabled so on boot they'll receive the new IP address automatically. Those with static configurations for any reason will need to login to their new VM through console after migration to set the new IP inside of their vm.

Upon completion the VM will be started, when this happens the migration for that VM is done.

If you don't want your VM auto started, please let me know in the ticket you send in.

There will be three expected downtimes set for this weekend and the upcoming weekend for maintenance of the system, and of the disk storage system that is backing everything.

VM's not migrated before August the 8th will be turned off. However, billing will be suspended for them and the disk data will be held for 3 months before removal. I understand some clients may not be able to migrate in time and wish not to cause undue stress. Canceling your service is also an option, if you wish not to be migrated. For that please follow the normal service cancelation procedure in your control panel.

I appreciate your patronage, and I hope the migration to a much better CPU is helpful in the end."

I hope the month of free service is a good enough compensation for the few minutes it'll take to re-purchase. I was told this is a pretty good way to go about things, let me know if I did it all wrong I guess :^)

Dear Customer,

We are writing to inform you of a security incident concerning our employee productivity monitoring system.

It has come to our attention that screenshots taken at regular intervals from our support employee(s) systems were inadvertently stored in a publicly accessible folder. These screenshots may have contained sensitive customer information, including server passwords submitted through our support systems between January and February 2025.

While the likelihood of any specific password appearing in these screenshots is low, we strongly recommend that you change your server passwords immediately if you submitted them via any of our support channels during this time.

However, we want to reassure you that there is no known or reported vulnerability in any of our software products.
None of our infrastructure has been compromised.

Steps We Are Taking to Mitigate Future Risk:

We are introducing a secure method across all products for customers to grant support access using public/private key authentication, eliminating the need to share passwords.

All root logins in Virtualizor and Webuzo will trigger an email notification with the IP address of the login attempt.

We will display a warning in the Admin Panel if a password is older than 3 months, suggesting a reset.

API keys will include a recommendation to restrict access to specific IPs.

Our support system will send a follow-up email prompting password resets once a ticket is closed.

Important Note Regarding Password Storage:
We have seen some misinformation regarding how we store passwords. Please be assured that all end-user passwords are securely hashed and never stored in plain text.

Recommended Customer Action:
We strongly advise all customers to reset any passwords submitted through our support systems (including ticket and chat) as a best practice—not just for our systems, but across any support platform you use.

We sincerely apologize for this incident and appreciate your prompt attention and understanding as we work to enhance our systems and security protocols.

Regards,
The Softaculous Team

Dear Client,

We wanted to inform you that our FREE SHARED WEB HOSTING IN
PENNSYLVANIA will be discontinued on June 1st, 2025. IF YOU ARE ON OUR
LA NODE THIS DOES NOT AFFECT YOU AND YOU CAN SAFELY DISREGARD THIS
take this decision lightly. Unfortunately, the location has not been
as popular as expected, leading us to make this change.

Action Required:
Please ensure ALL DATA IS MOVED BEFORE MAY 31ST, 2025, AT 12:00 PM to
avoid loss of files.

If you’d like to continue hosting with us, we can MIGRATE YOU TO OUR
LA LOCATION upon request. Simply submit a support ticket, and we’ll
take care of the transition for you.

BACKUP REMINDER:
Before moving, please take necessary backups to keep your data secure.

We appreciate your understanding, and we’re here to assist you

This is a copy of the meial I sent to YetiNode's shared hosting clients yesterday. I can not stress this enough if you are in LA you are fine and nothing needs to be done. I am also halting all new sign ups on the LA node as it appears I am maybe the victim of a spam attack.

I will be going through and freeing up respoueces this week so if you ARE NOT using your account it will be deleted.

Thank you to all my wonderful clients, It has been a pleasure to provide services to you and will continue to strive to make your experience as enjoyable as possible.
