I am looking for a very small and free VPS (1 vCPU, 512 MB RAM, 5-10 GB disk) for a personal project.

My ISP (Rostelecom) blocks all public tunneling services (ngrok, playit, localtonet). I have a working Minecraft server at home, and I need a VPS only to run a reverse tunnel (SSH or FRP) so my 3-5 friends can connect to it via the VPS.

I will use minimal resources, just for port forwarding (TCP port 25565). I can provide proof of my setup if needed.

Background

The original system was expanding and maintenance, tracking and management was taking up a lot of Tom's time. Tom had kindly given me a free server in which I had installed Proxmox then Tom and I entered into discussions about using Proxmox for FOSSVPS. Tom was very willing to accept the idea and quickly asked me to take over the service. My feelings are that FOSSVPS is Tom's creation and as such he is still 'the boss' but I have followed his original guidelines and started streamlining the service.

Shrimp was built since the great Squid was > 100,000 lines of code which made it difficult for us to audit. Further, we needed a forward proxy that worked in a very specific way:

Regular Mode

• Traffic goes over IPv4 or IPv6, whichever your stack decides

Lockdown Mode

• Traffic goes over IPv6 and uses NAT64 for IPv4, locked to a specific network interface

Shrimp will be very convenient for VPN providers who use Squid to provide forward HTTPS proxy services. Besides being lighter, Shrimp hashes passwords with bcrypt which is more secure at rest than the typical hashing used in other forward proxies.

For us, we built it so that we could provide a proxy appliance to our end users on Cloud Seeder which allows them to both run their own double hop proxy where they control one of the hops and also gain plausible deniability.

Announcement of a Unified Plan Structure
Dear Netdata User,

At Netdata, our commitment has always been to provide a powerful real-time monitoring solution that is accessible to everyone. As we've grown, so have the needs of our community. We've observed an expanding range of use-cases and a growing demand for more capabilities and quicker support. The pace of these demands has outstripped what we could feasibly deliver sustainably.

In response, we've had to adapt. However, this adaptation led to a complex landscape of plan offerings, including various versions for early adopters and the broader community. This complexity has made it challenging to manage and optimize our services effectively.

Up until now, our Early Bird and Community Plan users, including yourself, have enjoyed the benefit of monitoring an unlimited number of nodes. However to address the growing needs of our growing user base and address the challenges we listed above, we're phasing out these unlimited community plans.

What is Changing?
Starting March 13th, 2024, we will introduce a unified plan structure for all users. All Netdata spaces will be associated with one of these four plans:

Netdata Business
Netdata Homelab
Netdata Community
This new structure will replace the Early Bird and Unlimited Community plans. If you're currently on one of these plans, you'll be transitioned to a 60-day free trial of Netdata Business. After the trial, you will have the option to choose from the four plans listed above.

What Does This Mean for You?
Initially, there's nothing you need to do. During the 60-day trial, you'll have full access to the Business Plan features. After the trial:

We're in the process of (extremely slowly) cleaning up and prepping to move out of one of our warehouses to a new location and throughout this process I've seen that we have a lot of stuff that is non-business-critical and thus becomes e-waste. I don't want to throw it away, and I don't want to become an eBay reseller. The next best idea: free stuff (on LES only).

General rules:
* Your account should have more activity (not spammy) than mine to be considered. There isn't a hard-and-fast rule, if you think you qualify then make a claim.
* Wait 24 hours between "claims" on parts to give others a chance to chime in and get something.
* Items will have a per-claim quantity limit listed if one exists, this resets every 24hrs with the general claim rules.
* You provide us a shipping label at your expense, as well as the required importation docs to be included with said label, if necessary. I do not have the administrative manpower to deal with this, so it is non-negotiable. We will provide all packing materials and package it appropriately. We ship from Spokane, WA, USA.
* I will not and cannot test every piece of hardware here. They worked when pulled, but some of these items have been sitting for 2+ years. No guarantees--accept that risk BEFORE you send us a shipping label. There are no guarantees, refunds, replacements, warranties or anything of that nature. We will test the servers for POST/BIOS before packing due to the hassle and cost of shipping full chassis.
* I can and probably will change rules at any given time, for any given reason. If I forgot something or there is some 'technicality' allowing unintended actions, I will simply change the rules and ignore the request. This is a best-effort giveaway for no reason other than to hope someone can get some decent hardware and use it.

Process to claiming:
1. Reply with the ITEM and QUANTITY requested clearly readable (other conversation/jokes/etc also encouraged, just keep it separated so it is easy to see)
2. I will reply to you and confirm the request publicly as I get around to it, but if you were first you will have first dibs (sans some disqualifying reason).
3. After it has been confirmed, PM me here with ITEM, QUANTITY, and a LINK to your confirmation post by me.
4. We will get you package dimensions and weight, you will give us label and it will go out.

So as a part of the project I am currently working on I am going to be doing some free shared webhosting. Just for small sites to help people get into it and get things up and running.
