I have to admit, I started this with the personal feeling that the price had to go up, my mind was changed. It's good to talk

What became obvious is that the price is not the singular problem, $7 must stay, it is meaningful, but it may not be fit for the original purpose it was supposed to have.

Having thought about it, I believe this is a rare case where we can actually cater for everyone, here is what I propose based on the collective comments from Part 1.

Rule and small platform change.

1. $7 stays exactly how it is in the regular offers section (not a change, just for the avoidance of doubt).

2. We add a section for $15 p/year or less offers. These are real LE* Spirit offers for those of us who still have it, and we add a perk for hosts that can offer these (Perk to be decided)

3. We change the existing LES Exclusive offers section and rules, the new rule is that they don't need to be exclusive , but you can only post in here once every 2 (maybe 4) weeks, they are still for logged-in users only, we pick a meaningful name that clearly indicates the intent and make it known these are for logged in users only and not google indexed no other limitations

This caters for allowing hosts to be able to show off some of their higher-end plans; some of the community wants that, clearly, hosts do. This allows the general weekly $7 offers continue. This puts some real spirit back into LES.

If carefully executed, I really do not see a downside, unless you feel more offer posts are a bad thing, in which case I just have to kind of suck in some air and bare my teeth and shrug.

• KVM or OVZ (KVM is preferred)
• At least 3 public forwarded TCP & UDP ports (including SSH)
• At least 200 Mbps network speed
• 1 vCPU
• 512 MB RAM (256 MB should work too)
• No monthly/daily/weekly contract, only hourly

• Can delete and recreate with no limits, different IPs and/or multiple locations would be a plus
• Would be a plus if I can choose my own resources

And to be clear from the beginning, if your service requires specific minimum for adding balance, I won't deposit +$2.

showing around a 60 - 125% (roughly) increase in NVMe prices in just 3 months, and with a few big names like WD recently announcing that they have already sold all stock for 2026 to AI/Top 10 customers, 2027 being close to the same position and its expected all manufacturors will be in the same position within weeks or months and that will extend to 2028 in some cases.... things are going to get MUCH worse some casual bro science reading suggests 1000% increase by 2027.

The thing with NVMe is the 2nd hard market is terrible, you literally cant trust them and NVMe in general have a much shorter life than spinning rust.

I am wondering what this really means, if you think LE hosts are going to be paying $5000 per 1TB NVMe (Not even considering RAM and Power Prices) and selling at $7 you are delusional.

I wonder if we will start to see more NVMe cached options come up, HDD's are still expensive, not NVMe expensive and have a much longer life span.

I know many of you will turn your nose up at this and want low price, fast and reliable, but with the recent OVH and Hetzner corrective steps are you going to be willing to pay double or triple for a VPS or would you rather stick to the cheaper options and reduce your requirements (optimise)

Maybe the $7 is about to self-correct anyway, after all the recent talk about it.

An interesting few years ahead.

Following sustained user feedback and the recent in-house development of a provisioning module for our billing platform, WiseCP, we have taken the difficult decision to deprecate SolusVM 2 as our primary VPS management panel.

And, as of 23 December 2025, C-Servers will begin to market VirtFusion-based VPS services on our main offerings, under the MultiVPS and JumboDisk product tiers - starting with our new server in Falkenstein, Germany.

The VirtFusion platform will also be adopted progressively across product launches and new service lines in additional locations, as well as existing VPS services, with customer migrations planned to begin in 2026, ensuring a controlled and smooth transition to our existing customers - as much as possible.

Why Transition from an Established Platform?

This decision was not taken lightly.

When SolusVM was originally selected, it followed extensive internal testing and was, at the time, aligned with our requirements for usability and customer experience. However, as our infrastructure and customer base have grown, several structural and operational limitations became progressively clear.

The primary driver behind this transition is network and NAT handling. SolusVM’s long-standing lack of native NAT functionality has led us to seek external implementations, which introduced complexity and operational friction. Over the past 12 months, we observed repeated customer difficulties related to NAT usage, resulting in avoidable support overhead and, of course, the natural inconvenience it brought.

In addition, several other usability difficulties influenced our decision, including:

» Manual intervention requirements when virtual machines fail to restart automatically after host reboots, impacting overall uptime,

» Specific, occasional Open vSwitch-configured network discovery behaviors causing (very punctually) added latency, which only started to occur after a relevant number of VPS users were on dedicated servers;

» Backup tooling limitations, particularly performance and throughput.

Advantages of VirtFusion

With VirtFusion, we are introducing a more modern, resilient, and scalable architecture. We are explicitly abandoning our previous NAT system through socat and NAT64/DNS64, and we are focusing on a DNS-direct, NAT-direct solution.

Whenever possible, we'll use MacVTap; but on NAT solutions, we're now using libvirt bridging paired with Cloudflare DNS servers.

Other improvements include:
» Expanded NAT port allocations, increasing from 10+5 to 20+3 ports,
» Full support for standard IPv4-to-IPv4 service hosting, compatibility with all common web hosting control panels, and customer-managed NAT port ranges.

These changes significantly enhance flexibility, performance, and overall value for VPS customers—particularly for networking-intensive workloads.

Beyond networking, customers will also experience relevant improvements in usability, performance consistency, and operational/uptime reliability, delivered through a platform that is both widely adopted and well-established in the industry.

Importantly, this transition does not materially affect pricing, which solely increases on the range of 0,10 USD per month for newer customers. Of course, upon migration, existing customers will retain their current pricing with C-Servers.

So, when will it be available?

The first VirtFusion-based MultiVPS plans will be available for immediate deployment starting at 11h00 GMT +0, at our website.

Some of you know who I am, some don't.
As the owner of mrVM, I have been here since the dawn of LES as a Provider but lately haven't had the time to be as active as I used to be.

About a year ago, probably longer, I announced that I was about to pass the ownership over to another Provider here on LES.

Q: Are the resources dedicated?
A: No, they are fair share.

Q: What does "Free Support (Unmanaged)" mean?

nat_manager.py Quick Start Guide

nat_manager.py is a Python script designed to manage NAT (Network Address Translation) and port forwarding rules for VMs and containers in a Proxmox environment. The script utilizes iptables to configure NAT rules and allows for easy addition, removal, listing, updating, exporting, and importing of port mappings.

This guide provides step-by-step instructions for setting up the network, using the script, and provides examples for common operations.

Network Setup in Proxmox

To use nat_manager.py effectively, you need to set up a bridge network (vmbr1) on your Proxmox server. This bridge will use a private IP range and manage the NAT and port forwarding for your VMs and containers.

1. Configure the Bridge Network (vmbr1)

Edit the /etc/network/interfaces file to configure the bridge network interface vmbr1:

sudo nano /etc/network/interfaces

Add the following configuration:

2. Enable IP Forwarding

To ensure IP forwarding is enabled permanently, add the following line to /etc/sysctl.conf:

net.ipv4.ip_forward = 1

Apply the changes:

sudo sysctl -p

3. Restart Networking Service

Restart the networking service to apply the changes:

sudo systemctl restart networking

4. Install Required Packages

To ensure iptables rules persist across reboots, install iptables-persistent and other required packages:

• iptables-persistent: Allows iptables rules to be saved and restored on boot.
• python3 and sqlite3: Required for running the nat_manager.py script.

To add NAT port forwarding rules for a VM or container with an internal IP address (e.g., 10.0.0.5):

• Parameters:
  • <container_ip>: Internal IP address of the VM/container (e.g., 10.0.0.5).
  • --mode: Mode for adding ports, automatic (default) or manual.
  • --num-ports <N>: Number of ports to forward (default: 6).

Examples:

• Automatic Mode:

  sudo python3 nat_manager.py add 10.0.0.5 --mode automatic --num-ports 4
  
  

  This command automatically assigns 4 external ports (starting from 50000) to forward traffic to standard internal ports (e.g., 22, 80, 443, 8080) on 10.0.0.5.

2. Remove Port Mappings

To remove all port forwarding rules associated with a specific container IP:

sudo python3 nat_manager.py remove <container_ip>

• Example:

3. List Current Port Mappings

To list all current port mappings or those for a specific container IP:

sudo python3 nat_manager.py list [container_ip]

  Lists all port mappings currently configured on the Proxmox server.

  • List Mappings for a Specific Container:

5. Export and Import Port Mappings

You can export current port mappings to a JSON file for backup purposes or import them from a JSON file.

• Export Port Mappings:

  sudo python3 nat_manager.py export /path/to/export.json
  
  

  This command exports the current port mappings to export.json.

• Import Port Mappings:

  sudo python3 nat_manager.py import /path/to/export.json
  
  

  This command imports port mappings from export.json.

6. Backup and Restore Configuration

You can backup the current configuration of iptables and port mappings or restore from a backup.

• Backup Current Configuration:

  sudo python3 nat_manager.py backup
  
  

  This creates a backup of the current iptables rules and port mappings database.

• Restore Configuration from Backup:

  sudo python3 nat_manager.py restore <timestamp>
  
  

  Replace <timestamp> with the desired backup timestamp (e.g., backup_20230917123045).

7. Rebuild the Database from Existing iptables Rules

If the SQLite database is lost or out of sync with iptables rules, you can rebuild it:

sudo python3 nat_manager.py rebuild-db

This command scans existing iptables rules and reconstructs the database for consistency.

• IP Forwarding: Ensure IP forwarding is enabled by adding net.ipv4.ip_forward = 1 to /etc/sysctl.conf and running sudo sysctl -p.
• Save iptables Rules: To ensure the rules persist after reboot, use iptables-save > /etc/iptables/rules.v4 and iptables-restore < /etc/iptables/rules.v4.

• Check iptables-persistent: Ensure iptables-persistent is installed and enabled to manage rule persistence:

Network Configuration for VM/Container in Proxmox

When creating a VM or container in Proxmox that will use NAT:

1. Assign an Internal IP Address:

   • Assign an IP within the vmbr1 subnet, such as 10.0.0.5.
   • This IP will be used for internal communication and NAT port forwarding.

2. Connect to vmbr1 Network Bridge:

   • Ensure the VM/container network interface is attached to vmbr1 to use the internal network managed by NAT.
   • In Proxmox, select vmbr1 as the network bridge when creating or configuring the VM/container.

3. Configure Gateway (Optional):

   • Set the gateway to 10.0.0.1 (the vmbr1 address) to route all outbound traffic through the Proxmox host.

This setup allows VMs/containers to communicate internally using 10.0.0.x IPs and be accessed externally via port forwarding rules defined by nat_manager.py.

What on earth is a Micronode Instance?

The Micronode instance range is a way for you to create virtual private servers in any of our locations at any specification you like.

What are the costs?

MicroNode instances work on a pre-paid credit based system. Credits are valid for 1 year regardless of the amount of resource used.

Credits cost £10 per year each however we will be offering 50% off on the Black Friday launch.

What does one credit give me?

Once credit = 512MB RAM and 20GB Disk

What happens when I've used all of my resources?

You can simply purchase more credits or delete some instances to free up resource.

What about CPU cores?

Instances can only ever be single core.

How many instances does 1 credit get me?

The Minimum requirements to provision an instance is 64MB RAM and 3GB disk. You can provision up to 6 instances with 3GB Disk and 85MB RAM or less higher spec'd instances.

But you only have 3 locations

As more locations are added to our NatVPS range they will also become available to Micronode instances. We aim to add a minimum of 4 locations per year.

What happens if a location is out of stock?

We will aim to add more stock as soon as possible. We will ensure that at least 1 location has available resources to create instances. You will not be entitled to a refund unless no locations are available.

Is this fully supported?

No. Instances come with no support unless a location is down. If your instance is down the recommendation is to delete it and create a new one.

Can I re-install the OS on an instance?

No. Instances cannot be re-provisioned, they must be deleted and re-created.

If I delete an instance can I get the IP address(es) back?

No

Can I migrate an instance to another location?

No. You can however delete your instance and re-create it in another location.

Can I change the specifications of an instance?

No. You can however delete your instance and re-create it with your required specifications.

On my KVM VPSes, I'm using the iptables rule iptables -t nat -A POSTROUTING -o eth0 -j MASQUERADE
which would translate to iptables -t nat -A POSTROUTING -o venet0 -j MASQUERADE for OpenVZ I figured. However, iptables on my OpenVZ NAT VPS complains 'Chain 'MASQUERADE' does not exist'.

I already switched to the legacy version of iptables instead of nf using update-alternatives –config iptables but the error remains. And indeed, if I run iptables -L I see only three chains: INPUT, FORWARD and OUTPUT...

In the meantime I found this set of iptables rules that makes the VPN connection work:
