Hi,
I'm using around 1,3 TB S3 storage at OVH (around 1TB as DEEP ARCHIVE) and set a alarm for 8 EUR/months. While transfering data into the storage, I got several alarm mails last night:

01:43h: usage 9,66 EUR, predicted 523,84 EUR

03:13h: usage 13,80 EUR, predicted 687,26 EUR

04:14h: usage 13,80 EUR, predicted 179,51 EUR

09:14: usage 32,40 EUR, predicted 33,17 EUR

While the webinterface shows a usage of 0,62 EUR und 1,02 EUR prediced.

Does anybody has a clue what's wrong there with their mails?

Dear Customer,

We have issued several communications recently regarding repricing. We covered this topic on our blog in August and September, and we also sent out emails on the topic last month.

Since 06 October 2022, the price of new Additional IP subscriptions (additional IPv4, geolocated and failover) is $2.20 per month per IP (ex. GST), with no commitment or setup fees.

To follow the price of the new subscriptions, we will gradually integrate this new pricing for Additional IPs that have been subscribed to before this date:

From 01 December 2022, existing subscriptions will be charged at $0.80 per month per IP (ex. GST).
From 01 April 2023, existing subscriptions will be charged at $1.50 per month per IP (ex. GST).
From 01 September 2023, existing subscriptions will be charged at $2.20 per month per IP (ex. GST).

In parallel with this pricing adjustment, we have updated the Terms and Conditions of our Additional IP service. These Terms and Conditions are effective from 06 October 2022 for new subscriptions, and from 01 December 2022 for existing subscriptions. You can access the updated version of the Special Conditions on our dedicated page.

Price adjustment: For any Additional IP service subscription, any new IPv4 address will be delivered on a monthly basis, with no commitment or setup fee.

IP blacklist and reputation: When releasing an Additional IP, if it is found to be blacklisted (RBL), we may charge a cancellation fee to cover the decommissioning costs.

Additional IP not assigned: We can retrieve unused Additional IPs (not assigned to a service) after the user has been informed.

Clarification of transfer rules: An Additional IP attributed to an OVHcloud (compatible) service can only be re-attached to another service located on the same campus.

Please read these Terms and Conditions in full. To accept the modifications, no action is required on your part. However, if you would like to decline them and cancel your service, go to the OVHcloud Control Panel, select the “Network” section, then “Public IP addresses”, or use the OVHcloud dedicated APIs.

If you have any questions or need further support after reading the documentation, please contact your account manager or customer support.

Thank you for choosing OVHcloud.

Just received this:

`The hubiC offers as they currently exist will stop. Your account will be inaccessible from August 22, 2022. We would like to thank you for your trust and loyalty during those years and hope that hubiC gave you full satisfaction.

A new service, Shadow Drive, resolutely enriched and turned towards the future, has just been announced. It is a secure solution accessible to all, built in partnership with NextCloud, the world leader in open source cloud storage. Shadow Drive will be accessible for free up to 20GB of storage, while a premium version of the service will be available starting at €/£8.99 per month, with up to 2TB of storage.

As a loyal Hubic customer, we offer you the chance to be among the first to experience Shadow Drive and its early access launch. If you choose the 2TB offer, we will gladly migrate your hubiC data to Shadow Drive.

IMPORTANT: it is essential to fill in your preferences, to benefit from an early access account, and plan the migration of your hubiC data:

Without any action from you, we will delete your account as well as all your files hosted at hubiC when we stop our services.

To recover your file, follow the instructions included in the link to download your files directly to your device.

The hubiC teams thank you once again for your trust and loyalty.`

Hello guys!

I recently had a problem with OVH, one of my disks had to be changed (they didn't ask if I wanted to perform a backup before).

After that, I tried to boot the hard disk instead of the rescue mode, from there I get another email citing another problem with the GRUB configuration. (screenshot below):

Apparently I will have to mount all my disks again and fix this "GRUB problem" caused by OVH.

Unfortunately I didn't find anything consistent and reliable on the internet on how to do this without losing the files on the server.

Any help will be welcome.

Features of a full user level shell account on a dedicated bare metal shared server include:

-- every user typically can see the processor load averages,

-- find out how many other user accounts there are all together,

-- find out how many other users are logged in, and

-- even see some of commands that other users are running. For example, as many of you know, a quick overview may be obtained with the w(1) command.

-- When problems occur on bare metal, it can be helpful instantly to eliminate the virtualization layer as a possible trouble spot simply because, on dedicated bare metal, there is no virtualization layer (unless the user is running LXD, qemu or similar at the user level).

Hopefully, not everybody is trying to run heavy load, long run time programs simultaneously. Getting along can take a bit of inter-user co-ordination, and there's always the nice(1) command.

Recently, from an offer on LET, I snagged two Soyoustart servers: SYS-LE-1 - Intel Xeon D-1521 - 32GB DDR4 ECC 2133MHz - 2x 2To HDD SATA Soft RAID - symmetrical 250 Mbps. Multiple IPv4 addresses are available. The servers are in Canada at OVH's BHS datacenter.

Since the Spirit of the LET community has moved here to LES, I thought I might express my gratitude to LET here at LES. Would anyone like a free user account? Would anyone volunteer to help administer? Maybe Ubuntu 18.04 server plus LXD? For now, I'm just asking questions--no promises yet about who might be accepted, exactly when this might start, or how long this might last.

I hope to learn a lot. I hope to get to know some of you. And we'll have fun!

Thanks LES!
