According to their Discord, Hostaris has changed hands

Quoting from their discord server:

Just a messenger, I have one of their DE services for a VPN node, but don't use it enough to have much feedback on it from before the buyout.

Curious about the identities behind "we".

EDIT: On second thought, after reading the Discord message in the OP again, it appears that there's no "we", but is an individual who took over.

  • One of the individuals that seems to be involved in buying Hostaris dropped a few interesting comments on discord.

...whilst Hostaris has been purchased by a host in the bare-metal industry, we don't yet offer VM hosting. The ultimate plan here is to rebrand Hostaris as a VM/GSP provider

Game Hosting, VM Hosting, Website Hosting, that kind of thing, whilst leveraging the location diversity of our parent company (We've already got dark fibre, multiple private cages in reputable DCs, makes this business very easy to ramp up)

Seems to be someone already in the bare metal industry that bought it to get into vps.

Might not be far off from this post on LET asking for feedback. The guy has Hypere on his profile who he has worked for before...

good chance that Alex, the new operations manager might be a puppet of Ellis.

    I don't know if that's true though.

  • Two weeks after the buyout, can confirm....that the nodes are down a LOT. Like currently down and have been for like 3 days. From discord, seems like a lot of people are in a similar spot, and there's a lot of "we didn't realize the previous owner did X or Y" from them, even a couple weeks post-buyout.

Not gonna bother with a refund for a $12/year service that I've used sporadically for months, but barring a massive change soon, can't imagine renewing this.
