Honest question- Can we have a no snooping rule for providers? What happens in a private box stays in a private box.
Nuance may help to protect individual privacy and help future providers be successful from the get go. I think we all have seen that the community really values privacy. Tis all.
Thank you.
No idea how we as a separate community could enforce such a rule?
Its not that we monitor every provider here.
And if a provider snoops around without reasonable cause, I would say that provider is a dick, and we have a rule against that.
It can be enforced by community reports like how bdspice reported it in OGF
I don't visit OGF, so I don't know the reference, but how would we know that the report from a, perhaps disgruntled, customer is reporting exactly what has happened?
It's not like the Provider could/would/should reply in the open with customer details to an outsider of the business relationship.
That would be a breach of GDPR and that action itself wouldn't create confidence towards that Provider.
Let's review an example: A (former) customer of NameCrane writes a community report of suspected snooping of their data.
Do you think that @Francisco would share the story with me, as a forum administrator? To be the judge in this case?
I only used Fran as an example, as he is a well-known provider with great integrity.
I mean, wouldn't the report be enough? If you write an honest review on the forum, people will have the chance to read it, and make their own decision if they should sign up with that provider.
As long as their are no personal attacks in the review, and its somewhat backed up with some sort of proof, then I would keep it in the Review category.

@LES-BOT said: The list below shows the maximum price you can charge in USD for the service if you wish to advertise it on LES.
Can this be clarified, please. To what extent is it allowed to advertise services that are more expensive than the maximum price?
I think I have seen something like "see web site for other offers", but also including specific services in a post saying "service XYZ, see web site for price".

Thought I covered this as a mod, put prices in offers or get a head slap
Is it allowed to require writing a username when opening a ticket for double promotion? As I recall, the purpose of preventing double promotion comments was not only for spam but also for user information protection.

There are not restrictions for that. If you don't trust the host, don't reveal your "identity"

If anybody is buying off that provider after the fiasco.. I don't think any such rule would have ever stopped them.

Would buy the provider and try to salvage the brand if the price was right :^)
(Re)educate me.. 5 bucks for email and only 3 for shared?🤔
Michael from DragonWebHost & OnePoundEmail
Just put an offer for an email service that just so happens to also offer hosting?
Most shared hosting offers come with some kind of email service, just turn it around.
