Is there anyone nearby the Hetzner Finlan data center who can help restore Raid

I am using the AX42 series server in the Hetzner Finland data center, where the main programs are running. However, the Hetzner platform replaced the motherboard of the server without my confirmation message, resulting in the loss of my Raid data (Raid 0 array composed of two hard drives). Currently, the server cannot be started. I would like to ask if there are any nearby users who can help restore the array. I am willing to pay for it.

  • Hetzner will not let anyone touch any server in the shared space. You best and only option is to remote via KVMoIP. Any physical changes will have to be done via Hetzner staff.

    Running raid0 on prod: check
    Not having recent backups: check
Wanting to enter a shared hosting area: check

Sorry, what were we talking about?

    No backups YOLO.

If so, then your best option is:

    1. Rent a windows server, which would allow to connect your HDDs directly and has enough disk space for the data you're looking to restore.
    2. Set up an RDP or a similar screen sharing tool.
    3. Request to connect your hard drives and install some good data recovery software, which supports the file system you've used and perform the recovery.
    • One of the most important steps is to make sure that windows won't "check", initialize, format, chkdsk, etc. the drives on startup. That will reduce / ruin your chances.

Considering the change was done without a notification and resulted in a data loss, I would definitely attempt to get all that from hetzner free of charge.

Mentally strong people use much more than two drives in RAID0 to increase the failure probability.

Chads RAID 0 together 30 floppy disks, host a website on them, and serve it up to the open internet!

    1. In the server kvm/console idrac/ipmi/ilo drives show good health?? (if hardware its good there is a good chance to recover data, if hardware its damange in raid 0 there its high probability you will never see this data again.
    2. they are mechanical or ssd/nvme storage?? (there are places that can recover data from damaged mechanincal and ssd)
    3. the raid 0 was created via software or its a physical raid card?

First you need to find this information, if they are mechanical drives its just better to keep the machine shutdown, trying to repair this via remote/idrac/ilo/ipmi will be very difficult, if the drives are rented/datacenter drives you have to talk to them if there is a chance to buy this and then send them to recovery facility.

All depends how important this data its too you but there is a high chance you need to buy this hdds from hetzner and work with them localally and high chance this data its lost, even if you have raid 1 or raid 10 you need: remote backups!!

Hi there OP, Our teams are usually EXTREMELY careful about not replacing hardware without first asking for confirmation from a customer and warning them that there will be downtime/potential data loss.
I assume that you opened a support ticket about this issue, and I would be curious to see what happened there. Would you mind sending me a DM with your support ticket number? --Katie
