Call for Domain Sponsors: Get Cloudflare Pro & ZoneABC VIP Access by Joining the ZoneABC Ecosystem

edited May 30 in General

Help expand ZoneABC’s public domain pool — get Cloudflare Pro Plan and ZoneABC VIP perks by contributing your domain.

To better support our fast-growing community, ZoneABC is now accepting public domain sponsorships. If you own a domain and are open to contributing it to the ZoneABC ecosystem, we invite you to get in touch.

💡 What This Means

By joining this program, your domain will be managed by ZoneABC and become part of our public domain pool — meaning other ZoneABC users will be able to create and use subdomains under your domain, similar to how example.zabc.net works.

This initiative is designed to expand the availability of high-quality public subdomains for developers, communities, and educational projects, while ensuring consistent performance and centralized DNS management.

✅ What You’ll Get

Domains integrated into the ZoneABC ecosystem will benefit from:

  • Cloudflare Pro Protection Plan – Enhanced security, CDN, and performance optimization.
  • Access to ZoneABC's Cloudflare Enterprise Account – You retain full visibility and partial control over your domain.
  • ZoneABC VIP User Status – Includes:
    • +50 subdomain quota
    • +200 DNS record quota
    • +1000 bonus credits
    • Early access to new platform features

📌 Program Details

  • We're initially planning to accept 5 sponsored domains as part of this trial phase.
  • Transferring the domain to us is optional, though preferred. Full delegation allows us to provide more reliable and efficient management.
  • This is a trial run before we launch a full self-hosted domain management system. By participating now, you help us identify and improve technical and operational processes.

📬 How to Participate

If you're interested in sponsoring your domain and joining the ZoneABC ecosystem, please email us at [email protected].

We're excited to work with like-minded domain owners to build a stronger, more open internet together.

— The ZoneABC Team, a non-profit initiative built by a dedicated team of technology enthusiasts, professional engineers, and project managers with diverse backgrounds in cloud infrastructure, DNS services, software development, and internet governance.

  • I think people would like an initial explanation of what ZoneABC is as the website itself is kind of vague.
I could sponsor a domain (199693.xyz) since my AS expired and I have kind of nothing to do with it for a while (until 28/03/2026)

Free Subdomain Service with Cloudflare Enterprise Plan Protection

Thank you for your willingness to sponsor us. You are the first user willing to sponsor us for the domain name. <3
No offense, we would like to wait for a response before making a decision.

Free Subdomain Service with Cloudflare Enterprise Plan Protection

Thank you, but it still bugs me how sustainable the model is with CF being the center of everything. AFAIK they charge a lot for even the most mundane things on Enterprise/Pro plans.

Should I send a mail to the address given in the website? Or should I wait as well :p
I basically have 0 use of the domain (except mail, I will keep the mail up) and I kinda wanna get rid of it, this seems like a more "noble" cause to have an excuse to get rid of it, so I am interested.

Cloudflare Pro does not charge for traffic, but enterprise packages do. We have reliable corporate friends who provide relevant sponsorship, so we don’t have to worry about the cost of Cloudflare, but can focus on design, development, and operation.

It is best to send an email, note the domain name and whether the domain name can be transferred to us. We will wait for some time (maybe a week, not yet determined) to select a relatively good option. Although domain name sponsorship is a trial, we also hope that this service can be stable.

I would still be skeptical, but since you have them figured out, I guess you will be alright.

I have sent an email. Wish you good luck in your endeavours!

  • Could you please elaborate on how you plan to handle abuse by users? Can anyone get a subdomain to use it for anything (including illegal)? What is allowed and what is not? If someone uses it for nefarious means then how do you plan to respond and how fast can you respond?

Oh my, now you are charging 30 points and more for 4 char subdomain, previously it was free.

  • FatGrizzlyFatGrizzly Hosting Provider

I don't mean to be nosy, I think it would be appropriate if you get a Hosting Provider tag.

And.... are you by chance abusing Cloudflare's legacy plans or their Startup Program?

  • I got a spare domain: ssl (dot) baby. Is it ok for sponsor?

  • No replies are getting a bit suspicious, and everything they send sounds like an AI.

I want you all to look at this little conversation we had for volunteering options:

Here's me emailing them about the domain and their reply:

For some reason, their replies are very LLM and non-conclusive. There's no clear communication or documentation in anything provided. Seems scammy.

    Yup, too much LLM usage.

Nice way to get your domain blacklisted

Yes, previously it was free <3
Some users started hoarding domains — so we adjusted the policy to ensure those who truly need them can get access.

    @FatGrizzly

Not sure if we qualify for that tag yet. We’re still pretty new, and honestly not sure if what we’re doing counts as “hosting” provider.
We took another look at Cloudflare’s docs — seems like the proper way is to use the SaaS method. But for small-scale subdomain sharing, it doesn’t look like there’s any major issue. If things grow a lot, in terms of users or traffic, we’re open to upgrading to an Enterprise plan.

Absolutely, that would be perfect. Thank you!

We’re not on the clock during weekends, and not everyone treats unpaid volunteer work like a personal mission. Also, posting private messages or emails in public without permission is simply disrespectful.

As for the actual progress: we attempted to onboard two domains into the pool, but that revealed a critical bug we hadn’t detected before. We've already fixed it, and that took priority over everything else.

So far, around 10 users have contacted us. We've replied to all of them, and we’re working to assign tasks appropriately based on each individual’s context. That takes time, especially for a small team.

Yeah, soon our language will be 90% emojis and AI-suggested memes.
At least then we can blame the bots when we don’t make sense!

Thanks. We will update and clarify our policies regarding abuse and usage soon.

Uh as long as you keep renewing the contracts, plus RIPE actually changed their policy. They used to not charge annual fees but they are now, thus making lifetime deals kinda dead.

  • @Candance what level of controls will the domain owners have ? Can they reserve some subdomains ? Can it be like private domains in freedns.afraid.org where the domain owners need to approve subdomains?

    Why?
