Well, I personally are more on top of what's happening on IRC, I've been using it since the 1994 or something, and I have setup with a bouncer and one client always running in a shell account somewhere, and I can also connect from the phone and other devices/apps … It's easy to stay to connected to a bunch of networks and channels … That said, I'm idling quite a lot there. In Discord I mostly check a couple of servers that are most relevant for my work, and I have a bunch of others I almost never check …
My impression was that it had a sort of comeback a couple of years ago, but I don't know now, maybe it's fading … I'm just using it, keeping in touch with some old colleagues etc.

The OP writes that Discord isn't fine for this purpose. But he doesn't write why not. So, why not?
Discord is run by transexual furries who will dox you for wrongthink. If you've ever so much has had an opinion in your life, you'd be good to stay away from there.

Isn't every Discord server run separately by different people, each according to their own rules?

Will webchat.lowendirc.com also get an IPv6 address at some point?
Yes. Soonâ„¢. For real.
IRC without some good ol' Eggdrop and a random funny stats generator is like a party without music.

(and as expected, stats almost empty, for those who enjoy silence)
Also, don't forget that you can visit us via https://webchat.lowendirc.com.

Like his name, OP is dead account. Last active nearly 1 year ago...
Fair enough. Perhaps someone else can explain why Discord isn't fine for this purpose.
Or to refute that claim.
Cause most people hate discord due to their identity verification requirements.
How common is IRC used these days?

Discord is not decentralised.
We look forward to seeing you everyone on XMPP

apt mooEither I'm blocked, or it's down … (I saw it getting repeated SASL errors, wanted me to add new key, repeatedly a while back.)
I sent him a message, maybe he will respond.
