Still having issues even in HBA mode, and now I'm quite upset. It seems like some operating system(s) decided to just disable the hardware, like the device ID. I don't even think Windows has ever done something like that? That's a thing now? Probably all RHEL based version 8 and up (Alma and Rocky too.)
They specifically went out of their way to drop it even though it would otherwise "work."
Now I can't trust them not to just do the same thing with other HBAs or controllers. There's a difference between something not working because it just doesn't work and doing it this way. I mean I could "technically" do a workaround, by building custom kernels.
Trying to decide if I want to just give up on them and avoid sunk cost fallacy. I might just switch gears over to the E5's at this point. Either way, magic 8 ball says "oh my god, it's another weekend and you're STILL not doing the sale?"
@Wonder_Woman the 1TB HDDs are SAS which means above issue. That's what's holding up your build at this point. Let me know what you actually want via DM to see if we can make that work instead, or did you specifically want 4x1TB HDD?

DM'd. Sounds like you need to take those cards out back and...
Is anyone still keeping track of vps.blackfriday website?
Kinda interested if there was anything 8+ GB of RAM last few days - should I keep an eye on it or out of luck?

I randomly drop in to see what's there. Biggest I've seen has been 6GB iirc.

I'm surprised it's still running. The old system used to break and need a nudge every other day. I know I joked about this before but I legitimately forgot how to turn it off though, like I'd need to sit down for a bit to turn it off "properly."

We went through this and I think ElRepo has packages to re-enable the cards. kmod-megaraid_sas I believe. It's been a while since I had to work on one of these.

@Jab said: @VirMach any coupon for 40% off vps.blackfriday prices deal? ^.-
yea, can we have some flash discounts before the bot is sunset?
Right now I see it trying to sell a 1GB VPS with 50GB disk and 2 IPv4 for $9.82 per year, with a profit margin of about -10% if we assume the product was just 2x IPv4 addresses, and your proposal would mean we instead need to reduce that to -50% and then of course subtract out other costs.
What I likely need to do instead is remember to adjust the pricing to where it needs to actually be instead to have some profit margin. Soon.

Sometimes there are some bangers under $10 with 2 IPs. Crazy stuff xD

So yeah, I was thinking this means it's fixed.
It's not. It died again.
I guess it's time to script my services to startup rather than do it manually, lmao.
Now I am really really going to sleep, good night
Temporary side effect of the mass suspension combined with everything coming back online, looks like virtualization software crashed after a spike then stabilized 30~ minutes after your message.
I think VirMach is drunk, those servers are tilted.
There is one extra server in the middle cage!!11on1oNEoneoen!1oneone you need to buy two more, OCD.
CACHE cluster? Two cache cluster? The fuck you are going to run there ^.-

Caching heat, they’ll run in silent mode until thermal limit, then I’m going to cluster them together to where they run stress-ng synced to an ambient temperature sensor if my Bluetooth is near.
The cabinet not labeled as a cluster is just going to be 1U blanks so the hot aisle stays hot.
Edit — unless anyone wants to rent them to idle or whatever.
Storage server is ready. I'll likely deploy our lone beta tester to it tomorrow as I'm getting tired and still want to try to maybe ... oh wait it's 5:53PM, I was going to add in a few more things before heading out at 4PM. Hmm how'd that happen

Started a restore job from my Proxmox Backup Server running in my storage VPS.
Hopefully this thing does not eat too much resources and I don't get banned.
It's going to take a bit:
