  • Hi all,
    We'd like to announce our latest sponsor - @onidel ( onidel.com )
They have kindly agreed to sponsor a VM for running our VirtFusion Control Panel. Thanks to their HA architecture, we should not face any issues as we did with the VF in the past.
A very big thank you to Onidel for offering this!

  • Hi

I have successfully made a donation to the Horn of Africa Crisis project. I am glad to contribute to such a meaningful cause within my means.

Could you please let me know how I should submit the proof of donation to you?

Oh, I read through it and realized I still have some gaps to fill. Thanks for the reminder, I'll be back once I'm prepared.

  • Hello LES/FreeVPS team! Massive respect for keeping this amazing community project alive.

I'm going with Option 2. I have just made a donation of €5.25 (which is over the $5 USD minimum) to the Horn of Africa Crisis project. I've attached the screenshot of the donation receipt below.

    Desired Specs & Location:
I would love to request the Tokyo, JP (WebHorizon) Donor node.
I read the rules and understand the Tokyo plan is specifically limited to: 1x Core (50%), 768MB RAM, 10GB NVMe, 200GB BW. That is perfectly fine! Being based in Japan myself, having a local Tokyo node with low latency is absolutely ideal for my lightweight WireGuard mesh and uptime monitoring.

    Client No: 3265
    Your ID: 615873852233

    Proof of Donation:

Prayer: May the hypervisors enjoy eternal uptime, the NVMe drives never degrade, and the routing stay forever optimal. Long live the donors! 🙏

    ThanksGTHost, #Thankscrunchbits, #ThanksScaleBlade, #ThanksPieHasBeenEaten, #ThanksWebHorizon, #ThanksAnonymousSponsor, #ThanksInternetport, #ThanksMicrotronix, #ThanksHostEONS, and #ThanksHosteroid

  • Happy weekend, cheapskates! 😎💸
    We’ve been quiet for a bit… but damn, we’re back with a bang! 💥
Introducing — drumroll please 🥁 — RESOURCE PACKS!
You’ve been asking for more small VMs, and until now the answer was “no”…
    Not anymore. 🚀
Starting today, we’re opening Beta access to the new resource packs. Specs may change after final testing, but more info will follow.
    🧪 Beta Access

    • 5 current DONOR users from this forum
    • 5 current DONOR users from OGF
Just drop me a DM — first come, first served. 📩
      ⚠️ Important Rules (read these!)

    • ❌ Not a donor but request access? Your VM will be terminated + you’ll be banned.

    • ❌ Donor but request on both forums? Same deal — termination + ban.
    • ❌ Any misuse/abuse of the packs = instant account termination.
We know it sounds harsh, but we must protect our relationship with our generous sponsors. ❤️
      📦 Beta Resource Pack Specs

    • 6 CPU cores

    • 6 GB RAM
    • 80 GB storage
    • 1 TB traffic @ 500 Mbit
Max per VM: 3 cores / 4 GB RAM
      Max VMs per pack: 3
Available on most nodes except London, Tokyo, Singapore.
The test duration isn’t fixed yet — we’ll monitor usage and adjust.
Feedback is encouraged, and who knows… maybe testers get some extra goodies. 🎁
Let’s get to creating those VMs! 🛠️

Moving to a flexible resource pool is a fantastic evolution for FreeVPS. It brings that 'Private Cloud' flexibility to the community, which is much more useful than static slices for those of us running multiple micro-services.

6 vCores and 6GB RAM is a very generous sandbox. Even though Tokyo isn't on the list yet, I'm eager to see how a US-based resource pack handles a multi-node WireGuard mesh.

DM sent! Hoping to be part of the lucky first five. 🤞

  • Looks like my Tokyo node decided to take the 'YOLO mode' a bit too literally today! 😂 It's currently unreachable.

Since all help requests belong in this thread, I'm reporting it here. No rush, just wanted to flag it for the admins when you have a moment to check the JP hypervisor.

    Hi,

Sorry about that! Apparently the sponsor is doing some migration to a new DC, and some servers (ours included) decided to throw some disk errors upon boot.
They are working on it, and hopefully it'll be back up sooner rather than later.

We’re currently experiencing some issues with our Tokyo location. Unfortunately there were some bugs with the billing software (at the host side) that the service got terminated on accident. We’re getting the service reactivated and reprovisioned as quickly as we can.

Why is the "C" & "B" in crunchbits not not capitalized? What did they do wrong?

I speak fluent sarcasm and broken logic. | I would agree with you, but thæn we’d both be wrong.

    I think it's normally just the "C"

Yep, you are right. It's "Crunchbits" with only capital "C"

Yes it is available but you aren't eligible.

    Read the requirements again.

  • Greetings earthlings, it's been a while since we had some news to share and this time I'm afraid it's not the good kind..

As many of you have noticed, Tokyo and Sweden have been down for some time.

As for Tokyo, there was an error in the billing system that sadly deleted our server.
It sucks, but this happens. Webhorizon have been generous and will recreate a server for us but right now they are out of stock.
    More news to follow there.
Affected users can either wait it our or be moved to a different server should one wish.

The server in Sweden decided to brick itself after the last Debian update.
Don't know why, it's survived many reboots before but alas.
Naturally when these things happen, the KVM console isn't working either so Internetport have kindly said they will reinstall the server.
If we are lucky here, only the OS drives will be affected and the drives with the VMs and extra data partitions will be intact.
No promises though! It might be completely blank, we don't know yet.
Same here, those currently using the server can wait if they want or be moved to a different server.

Last but not least, Hivelocity has said they are not able to continue sponsoring our Amsterdam location.
No particular reason was given, but we can only thank them for their generosity these last few years.
Here users will receive an email and they can give their preference for where their new server will be placed.
Please get back to us as quickly as possible for the NL move, though a short grace period will be given.

Most locations have quite a few resources available, except the Romania server which is full :)

Guess that's it for now.. We are deeply sorry for the inconvenience since we do try to keep our uptime as high as possible.
