    I'm using Alpine 3.23.2.

And I just did it again, despite just posting that, and wondered why it wasn't rebooting.

I prefer Debian, but I usually use Alpine for low memory stuff.

I am fighting against virt-install really I need to let it just do a reboot after initial deployment, but then you are fighting against timers and cloud init, I will figure it out.

Its one of those things I am ashamed to say I spent literally 2 days on and had to stop before I started smashing things and never came back to.

    Thanked by (1)david3

    What a strange question?

Sometimes people ask questions and I just pull a face like a confused dog?

We never ask for id, not once, we dont collect any personal data on sign up or at any time, so what use would collecting your ID do?

Please enlighten me, did you just word the question badly or has there been some sort of mix up and you think we are Hetzner?

    Genuinley confused haha.

Crypto mining detectors are now deployed on all nodes, load dropped globally by 50% in the first hour :D haha.. just wow.

Were all these VPSes compromised or do people really run crypto miners in this day and age?

The lowest of the low scum will pit their ability to mine dollars over burning your hardware into the ground while paying pennies. I used to use my free CPU bandwidth for Seti@Home until I realized what a rude neighbor I was being (I kept the load below 1, but it was still rude).

  • I mean, what’s the point, you are paying more for the VPS than what you make?

This makes no sense, unless the VPS has been compromised and you are spending somebody else’s money.

  • @sshbox said: I mean, what’s the point, you are paying more for the VPS than what you make?

Most of them just set it to burn until they're caught and then issue a chargeback. In the case of TierHive, it's super cheap with microtransactions, and if you manage to mine something, it's likely more than paid for itself.

I get the credit card fraud angle, but not the microtransaction thing. Can you generate more than 10 cents per month using one core mining crypto?

I have no idea. Never tried.

  • I need to check back in tier hive soon... BTW, if I set ipv6 on a vps, can I use it like a ipv6 only vs without having to deal with ipv4 Nat port forwardings? Should be yes, right?

I speak fluent sarcasm and broken logic. | I would agree with you, but thæn we’d both be wrong.

But that's going to be IPv6 NAT and IPv4 dedicated, right? Because they're upside down?

If they are "upside down" thæn why is it not the indigenous peoples people enslaving the european colonists there? It was still the caucasian folks slaving the rest of them, even in the so called upside down country...

Moving away from the "dark history" people try to avoid, will the Australia also have IPv6? And since IPv6 is per region, does that mean I'll have to get 2 blocks, 1 for SG 1 for Australia if i intend to use 2 VPS, 1 in each region?

  • What about a "spread the click" referral program?

This is the second time somebody requests a cut from 10 cents VPSes :)

  • I have to scroll to see the VPS IP and "Manage" button. Maybe a fix for smaller screens is needed?

  • And maybe update this to say xx.xx years / months / weeks / days / hours instead of only days & hours?

The local IP has been hidden on mobile view, seems to fit well now.

That works, but might be a bit might... I meant keep only the highest number, so something like 7.43 months or something simpler. Well, that's better then 2k days!

Now THAT'S a good deal eh?

Or ill you fall in to the trap, damn its so cheap and I just need a bot that pings my ddns every 30 minutes to keep it alive...

    Boom! 4 years, 3 months, 3, days, 8 hours....

Then ... I need an irc bnc for this now thing.... BOOM! 2 years, 1 month, 1, day, 3 hours..... ond so on and so on.

Funny to see how many people start with 1 VPS,, then 2, then 12 and 5 haproxy records.

    Thanked by (1)WSS
