    remove and ass

    :lol:

    haha, my fingers hate me, what can I say... I could edit it, I wont now :D

    Life would be boring if people edited out the funny mistakes. It's like the blooper reel for real life. Too bad we dont have those anymore either...

    You don't need a blooper reel when everything's been a joke for the last 20 years.

    2 weeks to flatten the curve, comedy gold!
    Gas prices doubling, peak humor!
    Inflation is transitory, absolute classic!
    Buying a house? hilarious!
    Eggs becoming a luxury item, chef's kiss!
    Every app becoming a subscription, comedy evolved!
    Paying extra to remove ads from things you already bought, premium entertainment!
    Streaming replacing cable, somehow ending up more expensive thæn cable, gold standard humor!
    AI will help humanity / Just learn to code, followed by layoffs in tech every other Tuesday, ha ha ha . . .
    Shrinkflation, where the packaging gets promoted and the product gets demoted!
    Social media bringing people together, outstanding results so far. only a few more till everyone gets depression.
    Cant toast bread cause firmware update needed, sooo funny!
    You’ll own nothing and be happy... still testing that punchline...

    Thanks to @AnthonySmith. For an inexpensive hosting platform, the timely response to TierHive issues is great. He got my custom variable issues fixed in a jiffy. Kudos sir. 👏

    Well in fairness I broke them when I had the mail relay and sql variables etc stripped out and totally forgot the impact on the recipes section until the last moment, so.. it got priority haha.

  • How does HAProxy works? Is it location based routing? If not, is it possible?

    I am not sure I understand the question.

    You have mutiple options.

    You can set up 1 location (single server mode) for 1 domain, or you can add multi server mode for 1 domain and it will be served from all locations, you can also set up multiple backends per domain and per location and have round robin plus failover.

    examples:

    1 domain, 1 back end 1 location.

    1 domain, mutiple back end VPS, round robin or failover or both, multiple locations possible.

    1 domain, 1 backend, responds to all of our external IPs so you can add an A record for all of our IPs and no matter which one it hits it will be routed to yoru back end on our mesh.

    Has that changed recently? I went to try Global before and it only want to tie my single server to regional. That was a month ago, though.

    For Global SEO Distribution, is it based on closest? So if a request is sent in FR, it should hit the HAProxy in FR?

    That really depends on your own DNS we don't control that.

    But we do have the bones of our own nameserver system with location based routing.in our sandpit version internally that will do that, although honestly it might be a while before that hits production.

    Not new but the UI was broken at one point you might have hit it then, that was when we first attempted to do static hosting (releasing next week)

    Why would it not be allowed? More importantly, i thought TierHive doesn't have the required ports open for this?

    As long as your DoH client can use a non standard (443) port, there is no problem in setting up a DoH server and mapping it to an external port on TierHive. I gave it a stab, but failed as HAProxy probably does not like to handle DoH.

    I am guessing you need nginx stream support for DoH, which is not used for http(s) traffic.

  • You could try setting up blocky:

    https://github.com/0xERR0R/blocky

    And configure it to use an alternate DoH port:

    https://0xerr0r.github.io/blocky/latest/configuration/

    # optional: ports configuration
    ports:
      # optional: DNS listener port(s) and bind ip address(es)

      # example: [53, :53, 127.0.0.1:53, [::1]:53]
      dns:
        - 53
        - localhost:5353
      # optional: Port(s) and bind ip address(es) for DoT (DNS-over-TLS) listener.
      # Supports the same formats as `dns` above.
      # default: none
      # example: [853, :853, 127.0.0.1:853, [::1]:853]
      tls: 853
      # optional: Port(s) and optional bind ip address(es) to serve HTTPS used for prometheus metrics, pprof, REST API, DoH...
      # example: [443, :443, 127.0.0.1:443, [::1]:443]
      https: 443
      # optional: Port(s) and optional bind ip address(es) to serve HTTP used for prometheus metrics, pprof, REST API, DoH...
      # example: [4000, :4000, 127.0.0.1:4000, [::1]:4000]
      http: 4000
      # optional: URL path for DoH queries.
      # default: /dns-query
      dohPath: /dns-query

    Is there any archive section on the dashboard that I can scroll back to read some of the older announcements?

    No sorry, they are usually removed when not relevant anymore people were complaining about an endless click cycle to remove them from the dashboard.

    We will be getting a seperate externally hosted status page up soon that will start to store them all.

  • How do you deal with DMCA or copyright takedown notice? I'm trying to deploy some frontend for user upload media storage app. Is there a time period (for example 24 hours) so I can take anything down?

    DMCA or EU equivalents are standard 24-48h to action notices. Put your abuse address in front of it so notices hit you, not your client

    I kick you off the platform and delete all your data without further warning.

    Sorry if that sounds like I am being over the top, but if there is even a risk of that then whatever you are doing should not be on TierHive.

    This, and banning countries known for bad actors more than good ones is he only way to keep any sense of propriety.

    Ok fine. Was thinking to use it as a sort of selfhost CDN but won't consider.

    Anyways this has worked really well for me, I have managed to play with it a bit by self hosting some portfolio website. To be honest I wasn't expect anything to run smooth on 128mb ram. Interesting wireGuard mesh networking as well. If you don't mind sharing, what software was used for virtualisation?

    i ran a free service -> CloudRAM.Download | Made with love | And I am a Chickenist -> Chicken.ist

  • As an aside, when trying to test the included HAproxy, I discovered none of the free subdomain services will allow _TXT records.

    From this perspective a user content domain would be a welcome addition, as previously alluded to.

  • AnthonySmithAnthonySmith AdministratorHosting ProviderOGSenpai

    @nameserver said: Interesting wireGuard mesh networking as well. If you don't mind sharing, what software was used for virtualisation?

    yeah we had to engineer a complete custom conductor for the mesh, it probably was not worth the massive engineering effort it took to get right but it was one of those things that was always part of the design from day one so about an extra 3 - 4 weeks of time was pumped into it, happy with the result, but I would not do it again if I was starting over.

    It's all bog-standard Qemu/KVM with libvirt but we have put a huge amount of effort into optimising the nodes so squeeze every last drop of performance and density out of them. The TierHive panel itself is proprietary.

    @sshbox said: From this perspective a user content domain would be a welcome addition, as previously alluded to.

    It's on the list, but the list is long, it adds a surprising amount of complexity and abuse overhead to worry about, but it will happen.

    I appreciate it, but I am just not ready for them yet, I dont want to take them and end up just holding on to them for months unused.

    I have a couple of stupid ones I will test with first, like pop2.me
