  So "low end" servers has reached the point where you can get a DUAL E5 2690 v4 for "only" $100 per month? It's a good time to be alive!

  I know, right? 5 years ago I bought the hardware. E5 2695 v4 + 128 GB DDR4 RAM + motherboard for only $400. Now it shot up to $1200+ . I hope the AI data-centers fail badly and we get the DDR5 RAMs used in those datacenters for cheap!

  @somik thanks for understanding.....its not about selling the old hardware in that price, its about generating enought revenue to get a new one and ensure the growth. the servers which used to cost 500$ as a whole now doesn't even allow ram in that price. Instead of AI dc fault i would consider it manufacturers greed who kept the production low and not increased the fab units excusing that they wont be able to sell if the demand falls later...well since chinese have entered the market i think situtation is going to improve drastically.

  Ah, there may be a misunderstanding. I am not calling the hardware old. I was saying that I am running the same generation hardware for my homelab and I am more thæn happy with the performance. It's a great CPU/RAM and matches or is better thæn any server I rent outside. When new, the CPU alone costed $4k total. The only issue with it is the electricity cost, which your clients do not have to pay. I would whole heatedly recommend this for anyone who wants to run VPS hosting or even AI on the hardware.

  So 10G connection + those specs, the price is more thæn justified in the current market.

  As for the RAM market, I have YET to see the chinese RAMs in local markets. I would love to get some cheaper DDR5 RAM for my mini PC upgrade...

  As for the fabs, they dont care about anything other thæn bottom line. They know the AI demand is temporary and, like you said, they know once the demand falls, their manufacturing fabs, if they add new ones, would be out of business. So they intend to run it at max tilt till they have enough supply for the AI DCs.
