Namecrane still reliable after so many outages?
Yes, @Francisco was/ maybe is a dependable name..
But for few days it looks like he has no control over the servers of namecrane
There are multiple reports are servers down/not reachable..
right now my "lv-shared02" is also down..
Don't know what happened...
Even their main website namecrane.com is down as well.. so I can't check the status!!
Yes, servers can goes down for few minutes to few days (Fore useless providers)
But when their main website goes down as well, there are no way left to communicate..
It's not a random incedent,... but their servers on multiple locations are down for many many hours these days..
@Francisco are you okay? do you need any help?

I don't think @Francisco has ultimate control over anything at namecrane to be honest.
What he can or could say in any situation like this this is limited

Sorry, that one’s on me it seems.
When we first ordered the crane rack many years ago we did just 20a circuits. I forgot about that when we did the genoas, thinking we had 30a. truthfully it wasent an issue the whole time even with the genoas and more mail services.
For whatever reason there was a spike this morning and that threw both an and b side at the same time. Fiberhub is going to help swap the breakers to 30a and I can swap nodes without issue.
Sorry about that.

Just saying, I've been on namecrane since is launch for a bunch of small startups in my area. We've never noticed any issues - it's been pretty beyond fantastic actually. Not trying to deflect from your experience, but its been ... kinda unexpectedly rock solid.

Isn't Namecrane run by @Harambe and @Francisco has been stepping back? I might be out of the loop, too. So please excuse any nonsense I might have said lol.

Namecrane is a move fast and break things kind of provider which lots of enthusiasts like. They develop new features quickly and out in the open on discord. Not everything is fully baked when released. Enthusiasts feel like they are part of something cool and have a say in product development. It is also cheap and yields a community which can be fun to be a part of.
When I get my lifetime mail account I poured over headers to make sure tls listeners were working between the mail host, spam filters, and external split domain servers. They are good listeners and got things working satisfactorily. They have some hacks set up to reboot smarter mail when it crashes. It was nice to play around in SpamExperts again after giving up my license a few years back.
Anyways, I am not going to use it for my main domains because of those observations above. I use it for some ancillary projects though. I feel it is hard to beat self-hosting mailcow which is super reliable project.
