Tried @cmeerw's excellent NetBSD 11 RC5 image on a TierHive Alpine 256 GB RAM 1 GB disk. Besides the version bump on the @cmeerw image from RC4 to RC 5, Alpine also auto-bumped from the TierHive installed Alpine 3.23.4 to 3.23.5 when I installed cur…

@cmeerw Thank you! Almost there, earlier today! I tried 1024x768x24 but not 640x480x8. How would someone know which settings to try? I guess 640x480 is the default standard terminal resolution, and so 640x480 always should be tried first. :) (Image)

(Quote) FWIW, I have tried the new TierHive ISO mounting a few times on a 256 MB RAM, 1 GB disk VPS within two limited contexts: * (1) installing Debian (failure expected because the VPS is too small, so just for fun) and * (2) installing NetBSD. …

(Quote) I imagined that additional RAM space is allocated from the node for the ISO while the ISO is mounted and being accessed. If I understand right, it's not like the RAM space for the ISO comes from and is limited by the RAM allocated by the nod…

(Quote) This is great! Thank you! :star: Now my 256 MB RAM TierHve VPS is expected to have sufficient extra space temporarily allocated from the node to mount an ISO! Unless I am missing something. :) Thanks again! <3

Impossible to resist installing @cmeerw's NetBSD 11.0 RC4 image and making a backup just to see the size comparison with Alpine. :) NetBSD 11.0_RC4 (GENERIC) #0: Tue May 12 04:23:51 UTC 2026Welcome to NetBSD!This is a release candidate for NetBSD.B…

(Quote) +1 Hit the "Complete Purchase" button. The payment page seemed instantly replaced by the TierHive login page. When I logged in again, 11 tokens had been added -- the ten I bought plus the 10% bonus, in my case, one token.
