(Quote) The clients demanding an immediate response out of hours are almost never the ones willing to pay for it. I don't often fire clients, but for those I make an exception :-)
-
(Quote) Honestly, I've had clients like that before - in the long run, you're better off without them.

(Quote) Ok, the phrase "WNY IT Services, Inc. (LET owners) claimed that using the name "LowEnd" and domains like lowend.vip, low.ad or lowendspir.it was a trademark violation" suggested rather more than that. They do hold tradem…

I'd love to know where LET thinks they hold a trademark for "LowEnd", because I can't find one (and I'm 90% sure it's too generic to trademark anyway)

(Quote) I just don't get why you got an AI to write a post about two completely disconnected topics, but I look forward to your exciting bulletproof hosting offers when if you get a tag. I also look forward to the thread about your inevitable deadpo…

You really need to stop letting ChatGPT write your posts for you.

Honestly, for my money you'd be better off without profile images but I'm not your PR department. I've never really seen the need for headshots on corporate websites, but slop that looks like you generated it on a Facebook app doesn't feel like a n…

Much better! Now if you can just do something about those dreadful AI headshots that make you look like a made-up company... :-)
-
You'll find their company name buried in the Terms of Service, but inexplicably they still don't like to admit their company number. I continue to find their desperate desire for secrecy weird and offputting.

Hetzner storage box maybe; overkill in terms of space, but cheap and admin-free

Full logs is the gap I'm most conscious of, so very excited to see that landing. A slick enough webmail to ween the last of my users off gmail would be nice, but probably impossible.

Gemini when I want to be lied to constantly and then gaslit about it.

Only bother with translations if you actually have staff that can speak those languages; no point in having a multilingual website if your support melts down at the first Bonjour or God Morgen.

Seconded; I've only resisted this ridiculous server (so far) because I already have too many of his

(Quote) You can now bid for your server on eBay.

I doubt yet another thread about it will magically solve your problem

Although realistically, even a /64 would be enough for mortals.

(Quote) Virmach had plenty of issues (although nearly all my VPSes survived) but he never had this weird memory crap going on.
-
I concur; I've just rebooted and I'm sat watching htop as my memory drops steadily from 3.5G; it's just about at 1G now, once it drops to 300M, init goes into permanent diskwait - I'm guessing they've massively oversold on memory and are desperately…

(Quote) When one of your selling points is that your "big in enterprise hosting", it doesn't seem hugely unreasonable to ask you to back that up. If you're not willing to reveal the "big enterprise" provider you claim to be a pa…

(Quote) Did you ever get any response out of Vive? I'd kind of forgotten my idler there, but having just logged on and found this 4G machine now has a random amount of memory between 300M-500M, something is definitely up.

(Quote) You can use access your emails by app and browser on just about any mail service (and certainly the Gmail app used to allow you to add any IMAP account, not sure if it still does); as for storage, well they're going to be stored somewhere an…

(Quote) A lot of people prefer Gmails front end, and so they forward everything into it. No, it doesn't make any sense to me either, but people are weird.

(Quote) To be fair, GDPR was never about making your emails or phone calls private. It's just a framework to stop companies abusing personal data (not that it's hugely effective, but that's a whole different can of worms) And it only really becomes…

(Quote) A year ago, I'd have agreed with you. These days, not so sure.

Holy necroposting, batman!
