This guy again. You won't find anything for your budget. Either pay more or learn how to properly run a server.

Personally I’ve never experienced any trouble with HostDoc. Had a small UK VM at theirs at a reasonable price. Performed well over the last months and since it got migrated to an EPYC it performed great. Used it for some testing, so I’m going to hav…

(Quote) Still if you’re explicitly dealing with EU customers, you’ll have to conform to GDPR rules.

(Quote) This is true as well of course. These providers don’t just own a DC but own vast complexes. That being said, I wouldn’t know if their Ryzen dedis are 1U, 2U or maybe even 4U. Maybe @Hetzner_OL or @ninzo59 will share this information (probabl…

I do understand the Ryzen hype train, but I’m still a bit weary of using them. Fact is: these are consumer grade CPU’s designed for desktops. Not for servers. This is no problem when using them for your own hobby VM or dedi, but I wouldn’t use them…

I see that “if it’s free, you’re the product” is still valid in 2020. To be honest, this is to be expected. It’s why I actually pay for antivirus. If you don’t want to pay or can’t pay, you’re better off with using Microsoft Defender (yeah, really).

(Quote) Speeds seem to be all over the place, but I think this uses Speedtest.net api so it’s expected. With iperf it evens out to ~2,5 Gbps on most European locations.

My home ISP started rolling out DS IPv6 after literally years of testing and delays (saying it was an unnecessary extra). But I finally have IPv6 at home now. With a /48(!) subnet. I can’t even calculate how much addresses are in a subnet. IPv6 net…

I have used VMWare Fusion for years. Virutalizing virutally everything on my Mac. Does a great job, worth the money, etcetera.

(Quote) Do you want to offer a DA license to VPS customers of yours or do you want a VPS with DA?

(Quote) I've written this myself though. No Translate involved. Clearly I should practice it some more I guess. :# (Quote) Mit deinem Schmutzfinger.

(Quote) Ich spreche auch ein bisschen Deutsch. Ich habe es fünf Jahre lang am Gymnasium studiert. Es ist für mich schwieriger als früher, weil ich es nicht oft benutze. So yeah, anyone who doesn’t understand knows where to find Google Translate. An…

It's been a month now. I wouldn't bother if I were you. Just idle it or find a use case for it.

I'm wondering if any of the winners got their free VM delivered. Seems that @cociu is not active here.

(Quote) My 2 cents: If you secure your server correctly, you won't have to be afraid for those brute-force attempts. By changing the port you're merely obscuring that there is an SSH daemon running on your box. So it really is security by obscurity.…

For EU/India a VM on the Hetzner network would be a good bet. Maybe @seriesn can cook something up for you. Your budget is pretty tight. If SSD cached and OpenVZ is good enough for you, the VZ2048 at Inception Hosting (@AnthonySmith) would be a fi…
