(Quote) I ended up doing something like this. Key server running a .onion. One disadvantage with this is that Tor hides a lot of the "anti-tampering" stuff, e.g. it becomes harder for the key server to detect if the VPS has been moved to …

(Quote) This has already been mentioned, https://lowendspirit.com/discussion/comment/163998#Comment_163998. Mentioning it again isn't really adding anything to the discussion.

87% is so bad that your brand would be tarnished by associating yourself with that.

(Quote) Mine is nothing that complicated. What I do is install alpine (sometimes but rarely RHEL) on a small (1-2GB) partition and use it as a "thin" hypervisor. Everything runs in LXC containers (could use docker instead, I suppose). S…

(Quote) Putting it behind something like that is not a bad idea! Thanks for sharing that thought. Thanks everyone for the other suggestions too.

(Quote) There is no such thing, at least not from the OP.

(Quote) What do you mean "the TW19usd"?

Fair comment. The majority of abuse is from other than Tor, so I already have an automated behaviour-based system that just blocks the source.
-
I firewalled these guys because of abuse coming from their Tor exits. They're not unique in that and for some of you it might actually be a selling point, but just sayin'.

(Quote) No, I don't have the permission to do that.

(Quote) If it is anything like me, I kind of tune you out because your posts are the same thing over and over again with too high frequency.

(Quote) Oh, OK I didn't get the background.

What is the point of this redaction when the link clearly shows the provider?

(Quote) No

(Quote) How can half a VPS be offline?

(Quote) Fix your email.

LAX1Z016 also down more than a day with no status notification. Yeah there has been "circumstances beyond control" but this is now going on for so long that the only conclusion is that service is crap, TBH.

(Quote) Floating IPs generally can only point to instances in the same location, so does not match the use case here.

(Quote) CREATE TABLE MyTable (short_url CHAR(6) CHARACTER SET utf8mb4 COLLATE utf8mb4_bin, ...); or do ALTER on an existing column. It functionally ends up doing the same, but putting it in the schema means you shouldn't have to adjust every query.

Define the column with a collation type ending in _bin

I didn't look at which switch chip that model has, but see if the chip has a VLAN table. Possible the VLAN gets handled within the chip. Understand that I don't know exactly what is wrong but I am throwing out some ideas. [admin@mtk] > /interfac…

What version of ROS? No firewall? No ARP on the bridge? Try /interface bridge set arp=proxy-arp

(Quote) I think he means he runs mysql on the host and wants to access it from container. If it listens on 127.0.0.1, then no. Normally LXC gives you a bridge like lxcbr0 and the host has IP like 10.0.3.1 and containers 10.0.3.x, so if you make my…

(Quote) I'd pay a little, but I think it would be challenging to make a profitable business out of it. You'd be squeezed from the bottom by the free or free tiers, and from the top by the bigger players who offer things that come with scale (like 24…

Such things are just forum spam to me, I stop reading threads which do that because the signal-to-noise ratio is so bad.

(Quote) What you're describing is a NOTIFY. The when the zone is changed at the primary it should send a NOTIFY which prompts the secondary (that's your officially non-offensive term, although "slave" is baked in to APIs, config files, et…

(Quote) Who around here do you view positively for DDoS protection? Assume for the moment that we're only talking about DNS and don't have other specific needs (DMCA, crypto payments, ... all those things that might often be tied together), so pure…

(Quote) You probably know from this other thread that I manage my own, and I wouldn't discourage anyone from it. I think main reasons not to are (a) why bother? (b) reliability and (c) speed. a) As others have said, there's a big "why bother?…

Here's a short video showing how to do monitor integrations (with Hetrix & StatusCake) and API keys (e.g. dynamic DNS). https://misc-files.b-cdn.net/dns-monitor-demo.mp4

(Quote) I am on this one. My VM is currently working fine, but it looks like the control panel gives a timeout. Maybe a disk affecting some VMs?
