Looks quite similar to the Sipeed Lichee 4A in specs. If anybody is curious and wants to tinker with RISC-V hardware there are cheap SBCs based on C906 (single core) for less than 50€. Search for MangoPi MQ Pro or Lichee RV Dock. For quad core var…

(Quote) They absolutely need to hand out at least a single /64, otherwise SLAAC won't work. What they might charge for is for a static prefix. My ISP gives me a /56 but it is dynamic.

Unfortunately, they don't seem to be the "best for long-term renewal savings", my .com domain with them renews at $10.37. Promotional price only applies to new domains for the first year. If you register for more than a year, only the firs…

(Quote) I am guessing he meant ranging from 80 to 120 EUR yearly.

(Quote) That discount doesn't apply to lifetime products, though. :disappointed:

(Quote) Yes, seems I like gambling or something. I refrained from ordering additional IPs as I don't really want to pour any more money into them so I am using a different provider to get extra IPs (but these are charged monthly) - AntiDDoS kicks in…

My two dedicated servers are also rock solid and performance has been excellent: 13:33:33 up 151 days, 14:22, 5 users, load average: 2.37, 2.32, 2.09 13:43:48 up 116 days, 3:15, 7 users, load average: 1,45, 1,50, 1,62 My only complaint is the …

(Quote) I'd say that the East coast is your best bet, yes. Here's the list of US locations ordered by ping (from my location, Spain) from lowest to highest: Ashburn: ping-ashburn.zap-hosting.com - 194.156.91.5 (AS30823) Dallas: ping-dallas.zap-host…

(Quote) Can't agree more. With just a handful of maintainers we could get a decent product that slowly evolves into a good product. I am dreaming, I know.

Doesn't Hetzner have dedicated vCPU plans by the hour too? These use EPYC CPUs

(Quote) A really graphical site to check out Google graveyard (with a killstreak of 286 already!) https://killedbygoogle.com/

(Quote) PVE 8 (now in beta) ships with Linux 6.2 by default. In any case, you can also install the 6.2 opt-in kernel on PVE 7. https://forum.proxmox.com/threads/opt-in-linux-6-2-kernel-for-proxmox-ve-7-x-available.124189/

(Quote) HW video encoding/decoding is a hot mess depending on the SoC manufacturer (Allwinner is probably the worst offender as they never upstream their changes on mainstream Linux)

(Quote) What I meant is that they may discontinue the service at any point in time (as CloudAtCost already did) with little to no repercussion.
-
(Quote) This is correct. The question that remains unanswered is for how long they will honour that.
-
(Quote) I was dubious at first, but you are indeed correct. I even remember seeing Eygelshoven (NL) when ordering a server from @Advin, which, coincidentally, is also apparently housed at Combahton.

Just as I promised, here is my "lifetime" dedicated server review. It took me a while because right now I'm on a pretty tight schedule, but luckily I don't have to worry as this server won't expire anytime soon  The model I ordere…

(Quote) That makes sense, wish I was there at the right time, even if I don't use commercial VPNs often

(Quote) If my (very rough) calculations are correct, I basically prepaid a full year worth of my dedicated server upfront for a "lifetime" dedicated server. After that, break even has already been covered and it is all "profit". …

(Quote) Sure thing, I will try to gather as much information as possible to do some in-depth review. It seems to be an HP ProLiant blade server and I've got iLO access... Should I post it here whenever I have it ready or maybe on a separate thread? …

(Quote) Yes, there's the same "tremendous" limit for dedicateds regardless of the mode you choose. But at least it is connected to a 10Gbps pipe.

(Quote) I took the plunge and bought a "lifetime" dedi. They seem to use Combahton network (quite prem) at Germany. Will try to post more info about it tomorrow.

Any *BSD system. I'd say that its limitations are similar to OpenVZ, but with a current kernel. But I use it daily and it is pretty awesome, but functionality depends on LXC implementation.

(Quote) While the idea of shared browser is on my to-do list, I have put it on hold precisely because I didn't have the hardware for it. I am not discouraging you from trying it on a VPS, but performance will probably be terrible as hardware/3D acce…

Take a look at Cryb (https://cryb.app/) made by our fellow member @JeDaYoshi :) While I haven't tried it (yet), it looks quite promising and comparable to what Rabb.it (now defunct) or Hyperbeam offer. Apache Guacamole might be a good option too.

(Image) I received a letter with some amazing stuff inside :) Thanks @Brueggus!

(Quote) And accepting PayPal as the only payment gateway is also a red flag, or at least that's what people say... I try to use PP the bare minimum as many other hosts do.

It seems that even if it is KVM based, it is not possible to change the OS by yourself. IPv6 connectivity is not available either.
