TierHive - its a bit different

In really basic terms - It's an Hourly NAT KVM VPS that starts at ~$0.10 per month, what makes it different to the other NAT KVM offers?

1. You get a full /24 allocated from 10.0.0.0/8
2. You can add your own ports with internal port mapping as required. e.g. 5897 > 8080
3. You can self-migrate between regions
4. Comes with free static hosting
5. Comes with HAproxy load balancers for round robin or failover
6. Scheduled or one time backups
7. You only pay for storage when the VPS is powered off.
8. The /24 you are allocated runs on our custom mesh solution, so London VPS1 - 10.10.1.27 can privatley ping/communicate directly with New York VPS2 - 10.10.1.30 as if they are on the same physical LAN
9. You can mount ISO's from URLs (plural)
10. We support full pxe/ipxe on your LAN, and you can set your own DHCP options
11. We probably have more up-to-date OS templates than any other host
12. It's the cheapest server available.
13. You can create a VPS or 253 VPS with a 1-hour minimum and you are only billed for that hour, so you only pay for what you actually use instead of idle time.
14. We have a custom recipe section that you can use and earn from, or just automate your own deployments anytime you want with script injection managed by you.

would be nice if ipv6 gets the same treatment (i.e., same /64 across all machines we deploy)

but we understand only a few of us actually uses ipv6 and thus not a priority.

The actual plan for IPv6 was/is always to make it elastic; honestly, we messed up by bowing to pressure to have IPv6 in Alpha, it has messed up a number of plans and actually just delayed the full implementation and the move to beta.. but such is life, lessons learned

Damn, Brazil and South Africa now. I have no VMs there and have wanted to try out the IPv6 for a while, maybe now is the time.

Also, pretty cool clicking on a location shows the latency to the other locations, and being able to ping test from each location now.

I've just set up a subscription. TierHive is a great idea. It is just a shame I don't get to spend as much time as I would like using it at the moment. Hopefully that will change soon.

I don't know when, I was planning to start winding down the expansion a bit until the end of the year, as I have a queue of work to get through for moving to beta, like wildcard SSL, TCP mode for haproxy and asn registration.

But you know.... Sometimes I get itchy fingers so it could happen without warning
