The CPU temperature is currently fetched from /sys/class/thermal/thermal_zone*/temp, although this is unfortunately not available on all systems, which is why we're considering also using third-party software such as lm-sensors in future agent versions. Haven't considered ipmitool so far, but looks like a great fit. Thanks for the suggestion.
