This is the way. It is easy to monitor servers when you are the only user.

If it's broken for more than 60 minutes, I alert them on Slack, and they'll reluctantly fix it.

I mostly don't - found limited value in it. Though that is me a selfhoster - I could see LES provider gang ending up with different conclusions.
If I need to I try to aim for the grafana ecosystem. Its not the easiest (netdata is point & shoot) but grafana is a case of all roads lead to rome whether you need dashboard, metrics, logging, spans etc

I've always wanted to try feeding Riemann off Grafana data but haven't had the time to try it yet.
Or wait, you want the other way around, take data from Grafana and send events to Riemann?

Collectd can write to both Influx and Graphite, so I suggest you just pick one and let that be the collection point for everything.
Just setup a Graphite, let collectd feed it and read from it with both Graphana and Riemann.

Hetrixtools have been serving well for a couple of years.
Collectd can write to both Influx and Graphite, so I suggest you just pick one and let that be the collection point for everything.
