E5-1650 v3, 128 GB ECC DDR4, 2 x 2 TB HDD -- Low End At MetalVPS!
Greetings LES!
I got another bare metal dedi. If you want to join me on it, please let me know. Since I am paying for this one, you need to contribute, but maybe there could be free accounts if people have a good reason to need one.
Right now it's Debian 12, RAID 0, and there are two additional 100 GB altroot partitions, but all these easily could be changed.
BashVM for NAT KVM IPv4 + IPv6 VPSes is a breeze, thanks @babywhale, so we could do VPSes.
I like the 128 GB RAM. Maybe running NetBSD or Alpine or Void in RAM might be fun. But, Debian is great!
The usual fine print applies: cluelessβ’ administrator, server might explode π₯ at any random second, open source only, etc.

Here's another yabs. This one is after the load averages calmed down from the install. Also with local
fio
andiperf3
. Additionally, this yabs doesn't have any iperf3 "busy" reports. It's interesting that theiperf3
Send Speed values are significantly better than the Receive Speed values. It's a server, so what we want is send speed. And send speed is what Hetzner has to pay for. The network seems really good!I hope everyone gets the servers they want!
Someone forgot to redact.

I reinstalled this server, again with Debian 12, but this time with RAID 1 instead of RAID 0. Of course, I expected a decrease in the
fio
performance. I haven't yet asked the MetalVPS Math Team ("MMT") to analyze the numbers, but, without analysis, the decrease somehow seems less than I expected. Maybe a few mathmatically inclined LESbians might be interested in this rawfio
performance comparison data between RAID 1 and RAID 0.I hope everyone gets the servers they want!
Is this in Finland?
Germany.
Note that the location in the screenshot is given as FSN1-DC12. FSN 1 is Falkenstein.
The network information in the Yabs outputs also says Falkenstein.
Best wishes!

Ah, i see it.. thank you!
