He's not doing anything wrong. He's just making a lot of orders. Some customers do that. It was just unexpectedly large so it made my calculations inaccurate for any custom deals right now.
@roseyysa said: I mean why is the current cycle 7 hours? 15 minutes is enough. And VirBot generated configurations are so boring.
Many reasons. The system works better with longer times, and it's no longer Black Friday. This is just a small bonus. As we add more nodes and people cool off a little bit, we can have bursts of it speeding up on special occasions when more people are around, if I have more deals, etc. It's not realistic to expect everyone to passionately follow 15 minute deals for weeks non-stop. I'll have some more time to add in other features maybe to make it more exciting, like announcements for these periods. This all gives it a higher chance we can keep it around longer and in a more meaningful way as a sub-brand if we go that route.
Other reasons:
Lower timer results in exponentially more issues with last minute orders which require manual intervention
Lower volumes, it means by the time people get to seeing and considering buying it, it's gone. Longer timer, plans still sell
Sales are much more accurate as nodes have more time to settle down, which is also required as nodes fill out more
All of the above can be dealt with for Black Friday as an exception but also not 24x7 indefinitely.
tl;dr version = Some of us are getting old, and can't go for weeks with no sleep anymore, we need some breathers to recuperate !
Speaking of getting old... after days of not having more than about 3 hours sleep at a time... I eventually fell asleep unplanned for over 6 hours! (I'm backspacing the part that followed about how the first thing I did was the check the flash deals... let's stick with, some decent sleep is good!)

Can you guys get me some MTR reports, both directions via DM for Chicago? They didn't specify how many iterations so run it for a bit then send it over in text format.
I DM'ed some to you. Markdown failed for the first message so check the pastebin on the second one.
Please let me know if you need something more or different.
I checked the latest situation in Chicago and I am very pleased to report that the networking performance has been improved drastically. @FrankZ please check yours too. Hopefully this'll stick now!

Latency has dropped dramatically. Packet loss is virtually non existent. Bandwidth is also better.
I'd say that this is a big win. Thank you VirMach
I tried to start 1 core 512MB bashvm in my 1core/1776 MB/ 720GB/8 ip/20TB BW vmach, and CPU spike up 100% constantly for minutes . I decided to delete it, and change plan of this vps..

What is the line of the Tokyo data center now? Is it still IIJ?
I saw your last comment, I wasn't sure what you were trying to say specifically. We didn't make any changes on our end, I'll speak with provider. Let me know when you noticed it changed for you, maybe make a ticket and provide MTR both directions.

@VirMach It looks like there are some issues with the routing from Tokyo to China, this has been going on for a month or two now. I see what appears to be ntt in it is this correct? Here's some info I can provide:
I feel conflicted. I'm sad I missed the sweet, sweet most recent action of recent days, but I'm also glad I had work so that I can actually pay for my idlers. Fingers crossed for some crazy @VirMach custom dealzzzzz xD

How is uptime at NL? Is it good?
the node i am on, apart from downtime once that took sometime (weeks to a month or so cant remeber) to migrate to another node, it has always been up.

Word on the street is that Virmach had to rent a quarter of the DC in AMS just to accommodate FrankZ’ VMs
blog | exploring visually |
More trips than expected were required to check on the AMS DC.
Completely unrelated to the AMS DC being located in the, uh, heart of the red light district
