"a" new mod?! I am starting to think we need more than just one. Just think about the yeti to be well fed, then then about all the various llamas; surely we need more than one new mod.

They are just different in size and face and hair, but they are all lamoids.

EDIT: Maybe a happy llama should be the logo of LowEndSpirit.

From 2 clicks away, they look the same in my scope.

I was a mod for a while on 2-3 discord servers, never on a forum, that's why I am reconsidering my thoughts. Time, eh, probably not full time but I do come by atleast twice a day so, I guess that's something. Responsibility, I do have a good sense of it.

I would apply to come back as a mod again but if you've got 3 already interested you should be covered.

Personally didn't think LES needed another mod. M&M+Frank+Yeti seem like a good team.

    It does.

Both in terms of sharing the load (pun definitely intended) and covering the time zones (for 24hour coverage when things get hectic).

I would say two more would be optimal for now.

    @mikho, @AuroraZero

Will there be a public vote on the finalists?, or this is purely internal decisions of LES board?

    purely internal decisions.
with everyone having veto rights on each suggested member, we might end up with no-one in this voting round.
New mods will be presented in a new thread if/when that happens.

So it is not democracy? This sounds a bit like Romania, where on the world stage they annulled elections of presidency without any proof.

I would never want to be a moderator anywhere if I would have to bribe or lick someone's boot to not get veto or block someone else with veto.

I have a love for democracy, true democracy, untainted by corruption or personal greed.

In my opinion the solution here seems quite simple: create some thread where people can propose candidates, then put that list into a poll where members can vote.

Take it as a private club.private clubs not democracy but good point to be in some of them.

  • OK, I'm in to help with the more trivial and LESs technical decisions if needed. Sometimes I need to use a translator or AI to understand you ( Yeti in special) or to express myself, and I think that puts me at a disadvantage.

I've never had a similar role before, but I think I can do it. Either way, if you had to choose between me and Oles, then pick Oles because he has my vote (even though we're not voting).

It's pretty simple, if bringing on a new staff member would cause 2 others to leave, that is not something we want to happen.

The vote (among staff members) has to be unanimous.
All staff must be able to work with each other.

There is no greed and no corruption among the staff members.

We don't accept bribes for this position, except feeding the Yeti, but then again, it's in the job description.

    Why?

All staff must be able to work with each other.

    Why?

As far as I am concerned I see involvement, but not work, because there is no payment for work. From what I see the moderators are putting their time on the line in the service of a community. So the principal target and scope is the community, not themselves, nor their effort. They help because they love what they do and do what they do so that others may be happy. This in my opinion is better defined as altruism, not work.

With this in mind I consider maybe the community should be the one to decide, because it is the one who benefits from all this. This is just my opinion, justified by a context where LET (mentioned by Ant in Rules) was corrupted and drove Ant to create LES, as LET became a "family project" of ColoCrossing, which sold it to another guy from that family who introduced "bilohbucks".

I understand your view of some internal leadership, but I also hope you get my point.

Please stop the planet! I wish to get off!

  • It depends on how you look at it. The atmosphere in a team is always better if there are people you trust and can work with, rather than people who annoy you. The internal staff section is usually a world within a world, with constant interactions, just like among visitors in the public part of a forum.

Personally, but that's just me, I wouldn't complicate things that much. If someone caught my eye (as a reliable, serious person who's a lot online and may be willing to cooperate), I'd ask another admin for his opinion. If he agreed and there were no serious objections from the moderators, I'd then approach the person.
