NEW FTPS Support + rClone

We've been working hard on improving the cloud storage functionality to give you even more ways to utilize our large storage offers.

We've still got our custom rClone builds and are working to get our storage API added to the mainline rClone releases. We recently completed a full overhaul of our backend storage API to improve rClone performance. You can find our rClone builds on Github here.

We've also built a custom FTPS connector so you can interact with your CraneMail storage from any app/service that supports FTPS. We're still testing this out and making improvements, but it's available today on port 8221.

SFTP support is coming, we're still working on it. The best place to learn more and discuss/get help with the beta features is on our Discord - you can join us here: https://discord.gg/tRbJjyVvmj

NEW EU Location

We've said goodbye to Luxembourg and Hallo to Amsterdam, our new EU location for all web and email hosting services. Web hosting plans were already live migrated over the past 2 weeks.

This move brings a bunch of improvements to our services, but the biggest is definitely connectivity. We're utilizing Eranium as our upstream with a higher quality bandwidth blend, plus a 100G peering port on ERA-IX to further improve our connectivity within the EU.

Happy customer of the lifetime plan <3

Dumb question: is there a way for me to search emails and have it actually search my entire inbox rather than just the last couple days? Not sure if that's a limitation of SmarterMail or if there's something I'm missing

I found I had to reindex my mail to fix that.

Log in with an domain admin account in SmarterMail then go More -> Domain Settings -> (right click on mail user) -> Reindex.

That did the trick, thanks a ton!! Was looking for that everywhere but didn't realize that right-clicking on a user presented more options. All fixed up now :)

you just CNAME your mail address to the (us1/eu1).workspace.org and it will automatically get the letsencrypt cert and all for you.

Anyone can white label workspace.org as well by doing a cname to that domain :) actual branding (changing the page colours and stylesheet) will be limited to resellers in the future.

Is it possible to send from any email address in a domain (the equivalent of catch-all, but for sending)? or do you have to create (even if temporarily) aliases?

you can send as any address within that domain. even if it is a catch all.

    How to configure this?
Can’t find the option to send from the alias. Tried Webmail, iOS mail app

    Why?

Thanks. I receive email to hundreds of addresses (thanks to catchall) - I would hate having to configure hundreds of aliases just to be able to reply...

depends on the client, in eM Client it has an option to add send as aliases so you can send as them. but the server itself allows you to send as different addresses than the one you are logged in as.

Sending from a catch-all isn't a thing on webmail yet.

If you have named aliases then you can pick them in the webmail popup and just set it in the 'FROM' drop down.

OK, in eM Client, I can see the option to reply from the alias to which the mail arrived, but the reply mails never go to the sender.

I just found a option you may need to enable in the namecrane control panel, not smartermail

edit this option on your aliases

edit: ok my bad again, this is not for catch all, will work on it

edit2: enabled the same on Catch All and it worked perfectly

That’s how mine looks like. Replying from an actual alias works fine, but not from one of those catchall addresses.

Word of advise, avoid using catchall emails as now a days, some of the sites flag catchall domains as email re-directors and will not allow you to signup or validate with their site with your domain. I used to have some of my domains as catch all as i tended to sign up with websites with a unique ID so I can track which sites are selling my email addresses based on which emails receive spam. But in the recent years, I started seeing my catch all domains being soft barred, where the sites do not send the verification email to my catchall domains. After a bit of research, it turns out they'll try to send a email to a random address, like [email protected] and if the site accepts it, it'll NOT send any email to that domain.

I got around the issue by creating multiple mail aliases forwarding emails to a single inbox. All random email addresses in the domain are rejected so the sites are more then happy to validate my email address as legit and not a "free email redirection service"

Thanks, that makes sense. Are there any email clients that help to generate aliases on the go? Manageable from webmail with a few clicks, but it would be good to have such a feature. I tried eM Client on iOS, and it has a create alias option, but it seems to create only locally, and sending or receiving doesn’t work.
