Why choose XEN VPS in 2025 when KVM is already dominating the market?
I’ve noticed some providers still offering XEN-based VPS in 2025. With KVM being the go-to choice for most due to its hardware virtualization support and flexibility, I’m curious:
What are the actual advantages of XEN in today's hosting landscape?
Is there still a valid reason to use XEN over KVM for certain workloads or security models?
Or is it just legacy support and cost-saving?
Looking forward to hearing thoughts from sysadmins, hosting providers, and infrastructure engineers!

My guess is familiarity. Unless there is a deal breaker feature that forces your choice, just go with what you know. Most users would never be able to tell the difference anyway.
I personally would rather buy a XEN vps from a person that have years of experience with XEN then a KVM vps from a newbie, and vice versa. I do not care of my vps runs on XEN or KVM or whatever as long as it delivers what is promised.
I have several XEN vps's with Servarica ( @servarica_hani ) who are known for their XEN expertise, and those things are rock solid. I have put some serious abuse on those servers from time to time and they do not even flinch, not as much as a hiccup and I've had them for years.
Yes - @servarica_hani still uses XEN. I am happy with its stability, even though sometimes I wonder why they did not switch to KVM.
Please stop the planet! I wish to get off!
I don’t use Xen, but is there really any problem with it?
I am a representative of Advin Servers
They offer KVM now
With XEN you can move a live virtual machine without the need of a reboot or downtime (by design). So it is great for expanding capacity: just monitor those CPU cores, once they are fully loaded you can: create a new node, move customers there without them knowing/noticing anything (no downtime, no reboot).
In Virtfusion & Virtualizor have Live Mirgartion on KVM
