Servers.Guru, hopefully coming to LES :)

Hello everyone,

We've been registered on LowendSpirit for a long time now (May 2024), but I've been mainly lurking and didn't got the courage yet to post anything.

But finally, here we are!

We already have an active profile on LET but for those who do not know us, here is a quick introduction:

We've started offering privacy conscious hosting from 2021, strictly no KYC for crypto currencies payment as we believe in freedom and privacy. We also hugely favor Monero. We're providing VPS, webhosting and recently dedicated servers. Despite accepting crypto we also accept more regular payment methods such as PayPal and Credit / Debit card.

We're trying our best to keep our prices low, and that is what initially motivated us to start Servers.Guru, in 2021 most privacy oriented providers were extremely expensive. And we believed that preserving privacy should not be an extra tax on the hosting price. We try very hard to keep our prices as low as possible.

We've now expanded into multiple locations :

  • Netherlands ( both 1Gbps VPS and 10 Gbps)
  • Singapore
  • Montreal, Canada
  • USA - West

We have some download test available on our (incomplete) looking glass: https://servers.guru/looking-glass/ we can also provide test ips on request :)

All our VPS come with free DDoS protection, the best support we can provide, great performance and instant delivery.

Hmm, I think experience has taught us that "trustpilot" is never to be trusted...

I was not able to find a address on your website. Where are your offices located?

Also, you say you are "privacy focused" but your TOS states otherwise; showing that you are willing to cooperate with law enforcement agencies, which implies that you are collecting customer data to be shared...

Never make the same mistake twice. There are so many new ones to make.

Fair enough about trustpilot. You can also check us here: https://kycnot.me/service/servers guru
    We're incorporated in new mexico.

" which implies that you are collecting customer data to be shared..."
Where did you get that assumption from ? Collaborating with LEA, is the law. So we need to comply, collecting user data is not. And we don't. As stated, we are no KYC.

There is some weird entanglement when people conflate privacy and bulletproof. Those are not related.

We do not collect customer data as we are not required to and we are a privacy focused host, we comply with LEA as we have to by the law. It's as simple as that.

Privacy-focused != bulletproof host, you cannot legally not cooperate with LEA if their request is lawful

I think I wasn't clear enough here. I am not saying that the host should not comply with law enforcement.

I am merely asking what kind of customer data are they going to share with the law enforcement if they don't have any data on the customers in the first place...

Again, so if you are asked, what kind of data are you providing to the law enforcement? I get that you can hand over the data on the customer's server (if they did not encrypt it), but other then that, what other personal or identifying data are you going to provide to help law enforcement? IP address customer used to register or log into your control panel? Card or paypal details (if any)? Email? Etc?

Never make the same mistake twice. There are so many new ones to make.

Most often they ask about virtual machine drive and RAM, as well as transaction information (how was paid)

So that's the thing. We don't really have much things to hand out. If you pay with a traceable crypto like bitcoin etc.. that will be the txid. Other than that, email address and that's pretty much it :) We have basic webserver logs, so that could be the ip address used to connect to the website, but 99.9% of our customers either use TOR or VPN.

Outside of that, if you pay with crypto we don't have any other information.

Yeah, but that requires company's registration verification, review checks, accounting audit, approval from #LowEndDetectives syndicate. I have a feeling it's going to take some time. Tagging @Mason & @mikho just in case.

I like it! Great for setting up uptime monitor, reminder bots and for things where you basically your scripts to access the internet. It's an alternative to keeping your computer running to run the scripts locally.

Maybe we could do some very limited 7$/year deal if approved. We'll see.

that would certainly not be a regular occurence though as we plan on staying in business and that's pretty much incompatible with 7$/year deal.
