I would say "don't be a dick" should apply equally to a provider or member.
Your example about Hetzner does not contradict my earlier comment
@msatt said: There has to be a line drawn where node down for X period without any view to fixing means suspend tag.
All the provider needs to do is say (somewhere) what and when things are happening to avoid the suspension.
I don't want to load the mods with any extra work but there should be a standard rule for this.
The provider is not providing, so suspend.
To avoid issues this must be node related NOT user related.
1 month is (I believe) a very reasonable period.
@cybertech
I think these are very reasonable comments particularly
LES isn't paid in anyway to vet providers or enforce/monitor such SLAs
you will still want more providers willing to advertise than not and this doesn't help
I still feel there should be a way to indicate a provider is not providing.
Just throwing out an idea - how about a "Provider not Providing" thread (sticky) in which a provider can be named if the criteria (whatever that is) is met. The provider details could be removed if they subsequently return to normality. The thread should be locked and an entry is made or removed based on confirmed posts by members.
At least this method means vetting of the provider remains consistent and should not stop providers from coming to LES.
Also a regular comment is 'do your own research', well at least the "Provider not providing" thread would be a good starting point.
It's kind of a pain, that, in the days of having the ability to search, people don't want to have to do their own research. Someone else has to do the work to make one's life less of a pain. We're on page 410. Is it really that hard to see what one is buying into?
@skorous said: As opposed to the Complain, Moan, Praise thread which is generally one of the most active threads on the site?
Come on, I think you are just 'discussing' for the sake of it
So what is it, complain, moan or praise - depending upon how quiet people are (because they know what @VirMach is like), visitors could easily get the wrong impression. I agree after my 'discussion' they may get a different impression (I hope).
As far as the OP comment 410 pages - that could be seen as a real positive and would anyone read 410 pages.
I do feel that a number of people on here just feel like 'leave it alone' we are happy but without discussion LES will just remain stagnant.

virmach.com itself references TrustPilot, where currently the rating is 1.5, so fine, don't depend on LES, which isn't referenced there. Of course, one does have to look past the retarded local site rating of 4.1, but the "Review us on TrustPilot" is right there beside it. TrustPilot prefers recent ratings over ancient ones, so it tries to emphasize current and to diminish ancient history.
Look 'guys' I have tried to have a sensible balanced discussion but we seem to be moving away from the focus. A provider should provide.
A provider could have a brilliant trustpilot but do a runner or something worse. Why should trustpilot or google or anything else be the source of information when there could be the source on LES.
Why should people like me make these 'stupid' comments everything is working fine.....
@msatt said: Come on, I think you are just 'discussing' for the sake of it
No, I just think you're trying to solve a problem that isn't a problem. I know, you're shocked.

Does any other provider have a 400+ page Complain/Moan/Praise thread? The very first post talks about what's currently wrong / broken. Nobody will go back the the first page? Okay, when was the last page that didn't have at least a couple people complaining about something being broken? Before you it was @jcn50. Before that it was ... @julensm ? @Flying_Chinaman ? I forget. They all blur together after a while.
@msatt said: I do feel that a number of people on here just feel like 'leave it alone' we are happy but without discussion LES will just remain stagnant.
Hey, discuss away.
@msatt said: Why should people like me make these 'stupid' comments everything is working fine.....
( shrug ) You're passionate. Regardless, everything's not fine. Everything hasn't been fine since .... 2020? It ebbs and flows but it hasn't been 100% right since before I started. ColonCleansing broke contract and turned his shit off. IPs have been repossessed. ASRock motherboards had firmware bugs and once those were mostly mitigated they ate their NVMEs. Dedipath went under. Remote hands installed CPUs with a hammer. Hardware disappeared. Miami was blown down by a hurricane which was only surpassed by San Jose being destroyed by C'thulu. ( Right now you're not sure, 'Did Miami get blown down by a hurricane?' ). Frankly I'm stunned he wasn't affected by that OVH fire. It's messy. But he always comes back.
@skorous I think your reply and history lesson are admirable (genuinely).
Overall yes I do still see a problem and if this was my forum I would be doing something about it. However it is not and I can't change things. While I believe many readers understand my comments / feelings, the consensus appears to be against me. So I will stop pushing but with one proviso I will post my banner every two weeks or so to keep 'newbies' aware.
I hope that is acceptable to all.
@msatt said: While I believe many readers understand my comments / feelings, the consensus appears to be against me.
Just to be clear, * I * understand your comments/feelings. My disagreement is with whether they require any action at this point and if action were taken whether it would make a difference or just make more work for mods.

As decreed by the wise sage who created this thread, "I made this thread so that people can say what they want about VirMach's service. That includes the good, the bad, and the ugly. You want to say the same thing ten times, knock your socks off. I don't know how much good it will do, but go right ahead." -- @FrankZ
Just an idea, post it when it's relatively quiet for a while? Prob'ly no need when the post above you is, "OMG! ATLZ05 has been down for a month and I've got a 25% packet loss out of Oklahoma. Again." Not a directive obviously, just figuring it'll maximize your impact.
What I want to know is how many notifications are showing up (on the top left corner) for @Virmach as he should be getting 1 notification for every message that mentions him. As for @FrankZ , he should be getting 1 notification popup for every reply to a thread he created, so.... good luck!
Never make the same mistake twice. There are so many new ones to make.
It’s OK if you disagree with me. I can’t force you to be right.

Virmach is NOT worth the risk.
i think its a little heavy to impose some kind of SLA as:
I bench YABS 24/7/365 unless it's a leap year.
So, did anyone heard anything from VirMach?
Website update, blog update (LOL), ticket update, status update? Anything?
Haven't bought a single service in VirMach Great Ryzen 2022 - 2023 Flash Sale.
