I bought Divi years ago, didn't regret it so far. I haven't used it in a while either. Divi was getting slower with the feature load added, but Divi 5 is supposed to be a re-work of it being more snappy. Can't really go wrong with getting it if you might have a use case for it at all imho. There are ups and downs, but I've been happy overall.

If Generatepress lifetime were still available, I would say buy that (I bought it) without a second thought.

Now since GP is supscription only, I'm not 100% sure.

Divi, last time I checked, leaves a bunch of ugly Divi shortcodes when you disable it (if you ever decide to switch to a different theme or page builder). That's a downside IMO.

    Edit:
Hope someone will correct me if Divi too has switched to Gutenberg blocks (like Generatepress).

If I could recommend another lifetime (on sale) it would be LiveCanvas for some snappy bootstrap based WP website that can be exported as plain html:
    https://livecanvas.com/

I could be wrong, but iirc Divi 5 supposedly does away with the Divi shortcodes.

    That looks very interesting.
I just sent an email asking if they'd be willing to donate a lifetime subscription in return for testing and publishing articles of the installation, workflow, metrics etc. :)

Doesn't hurt to ask - and considering the amount of time and effort it would take, I think it's more than fair

I should get down to testing the latest Divi now in that case - unless you have a site running it already to confirm. :)

    It's awesome.

I think emails like mine probably end up in spam anyway. LOL.

Will check on Divi next week - if I don't forget.

OK, just gave it a look to download: Divi 5 is still in beta.
So, one might risk a lifetime on a promise that 5 will be good, and work nicely with blocks (i.e. no vendor lock-in).

No final conclusion since it's still in beta - and the same goes for the 1.0 version before proper patching (that's become the norm with every software).

Got the lifetime licence for testing. Thanks again to @Ympker for pointing me towards it.
I'll share notes once I've tested it properly (my I/O site RSS feed for those who like that :) ).

Do we need Divis of the world still?
( answer, yes, but maybe no more for everyone!)

I spent three hours between three LLMs, asking each to replicate selected features of some good themes I have used in the past…
I wanted no Block theme , no gutenburg…

Not for going cheap, but for the joy of discovering

Used base twenty twenty (borked) / twenty seventeen (works well). Testing it out thoroughly…

On that note if anyone is looking for elementor essential addons or brizy pagebuilder… dm

Are you referring to LiveCanvas? Lmk once you publish your test :)
I've also imported some Bootstrap templates into it a while back. Worked great. Now, Tailwindcss (which I prefer) apparently is also supported. So maybe check out MerakiUI (https://merakiui.com/), DaisyUI, or other free Tailwind kits

    Yes, Livecanvas.

I've already started testing and writing notes - not much time, but it is a start.

I'll check out the MerakiUI (ask @Amadex to explain what "merak" means LOL :) ).

Still considering whether I should publish stuff on the forum as-I-go, or only publish article(s) (and maybe even some videos, will see).

I respect privacy, but I'm also happy to publish full attributions for any help or tips (I wouldn't have tested if you hadn't mentioned it) - so let me know if you want a no-pants pic. on the Gremlin website. :)
