Both of my virmach have good uptime.

    NY 308 days
    LA 92 days

But I think to let it go.

My three VPS instances are also exceptionally stable:

    LA daily downtime: 4%
    SJC daily downtime: 100%
    Tokyo daily downtime: 100%

    VirVir, where art thou?

Same reason as before and it's been upsetting me but there's nothing I can do at the moment but wait for a response. We've received one response over the last 3 weeks.

I'm just logging in to let everyone know they should not be worried about me and I apologize for making you worried. I'll come back here full time once it feels appropriate. I'm not abandoning you guys or our customers and things that are within my direct control should start improving soon to some level as I begin to (finally and hopefully) catch up.

I'll try to touch on everything else I remember with a couple sentences each:

    • There are definitely several nodes down but the majority's San Jose. Other nodes have been quickly fixed where possible. Atlanta is the most affected location. Los Angeles was initially some carrier issues and then switch issues which I'm trying to wrap up.
    • I apologize to anyone who I've disappointed, especially from this community (such as @msatt)
    • Tickets have an unfathomable backlog so I'm just confirming what everyone's suspected, tickets have been currently abandoned.
    • We didn't do Black Friday as a result of the long-running tradition of not trying to do anything if it even feels like a cash grab or adds to the workload at a critical time
    • Oklahoma is still alive and well. It's still not a priority, and I'm excited for it to be a priority again. The routing issue here can be immediately fixed by removing Cox Communications, I've just wanted to do it "properly" after communicating with them which hasn't happened yet. Beta testers will get a "reset" on their due dates as if they've received the beta period for free.
    • "What about [insert server name or insert my issue] and why no updates?" We'll get into this later with a wall of text, maybe. I already have several pages of thoughts I've been saving for when I'm back, if I decide to post it.

I hope everyone's doing well, once again, I am doing well and I do not want you guys to think anything happened to me. This doesn't mean I'll be back immediately, but soon™

  • Today I woke up at 3 a.m. out of nowhere. “Again at this hour? Maybe something happened,” I thought, with that illusory truth effect from movies.

Then I logged into LES and… @Virmach came back. Welcome back, fellow LESbian. Happy to know you’re alive or not in jail.

But honestly, it does worry me that I woke up at 3 a.m. There was a time when I did it at 3 or 3:03 or 3:30 or 3:33. What a curious brain. I only remember that those weren’t very good days.

  • Glad to hear from you and that all is well @VirMach !

That would explain some weird issues with updates or some locations outbound, glad to know OKC still on the map!

    Welcome back, Virmach.

I've cancelled the cancellation request for the SJC VPS, hoping it will return to normal before its expiry date.

Do not forget that TYOC007 remains in extended downtime. As you have not mentioned it, it is still on the cancellation list.

However, the OKC server was cancelled last month due to routing issues. I do hope @Virmach will provide me with a new one in future.

PS:Virmach returned after two months and 29 days, yet he still failed to break his previous record of being offline for three months.

@VirMach not sure I should be specially singled out but apology accepted thank you.
Two VPS on AMSD018 down for maintenance for 4 months so far and you just left us :'(

May be cheeky to ask but why not - how about a donation of a dedi to FOSSVPS (as compensation for everyone) ?
Those affected by your absence could have free access which we would manage? As long as people behave themselves and are long standing non spammy on LES I would drop the strict open source development requirement.

he cant guarantee uptime of that dedi though

    I bench YABS 24/7/365 unless it's a leap year.
