Alright I'm doing the scream test tonight.
That's where you unplug the network cable and see if anyone still on the service submits a support ticket.
Sounds like the original way people used to check which power cable went to which house...
Yep lol.
I also just realized that one of the funniest things about this in hindsight, is that this is probably the most graceful shutdown of a paid hosting provider anyone is gonna see. How many providers do you know that can go "oh you didn't get your data, let me turn the server back on."?
Also in the time from my "deadpool" announcement to now, HDDs have went up by another 30% or so over previous current prices. Ram has also went up.
Actually kind of excited to convert one of the compute nodes into something that the free VPS guys here on the forum can use. There's nothing wrong with the hardware, I just can't afford to fix it if it breaks so I can't really charge clients for using it.

That is people centric attitude, not money minded. With that kind of attitude, no wonder you're deadpooling
I read the companies in USA working with asbestos (making or installing) knew of the risks to the workers, but didn't care about it. Went as far as hiding evidence and bad-mouthing doctors who said otherwise...

If anyone actually wants to run some Compute sticks- I have 3 first generation units that I'd be happy to wipe and ship to whoever wants to host them. They're WiFi and low RAM/CPU/Storage, but obvious they'd be fine for NFS/external mounted disk. They were used as kiosks from 2018ish-2024, and worked fine when removed. Obviously, priority goes to whoever does something community/non-profit related with them.

That's how they are still in business.
Deadpool implies that I have no money, my business is still 100% solvent, that's how I'm able to keep the lights on with no clients on the monetary-based offers. The thread name is mostly a meme based on LES culture, a true deadpool typically is a 'all my apes gone' situation where you wake up to find your provider disappeared.
Also of note, I'm not removing the billing panel but I will begin the process of purging accounts from billing that haven't been logged into within 6 months, this is for client safety / privacy and it also helps ensure that if something did happen to my billing panel it limits the damage. Same billing panel is used for the free offerings too lol.

Sounds good to me, know a few hosts that probably should be put on a list if they try to come back.
Deadpool Hall of Scam - DHS - just saw this now, lol, funny.
