[Free WebHosting] InfinityFree - Unlimited Disk Space & BW, 400 MySQL Dtb, Free SSL/Subdomains+DNS

So I thought it was time about writing a review on InfinityFree since I have been using them for about a year now.

InfinityFree offers at no charge, what many would consider impossible:

"Unlimited" Disk Space (ofc there is probably some kind of FUP) and Bandwidth, 400 MySQL Databases, a PHP Selector, Free Subdomains, Free SSL and DNS, Free Softaculous and no ads on your website.

So, how does that work out then? Way too good, to be honest. They pride themselves in 99,99% Uptime and indeed my Uptime Roboto reported about 237 Minutes of Downtime within just about a year which equals about 4hours of downtime. Using uptime.is to calculate, 99,99% of Uptime would still allow a whopping 8 hours of downtime and it's nowhere near that.

Now, many of you may be disappointed because I didn't abuse the "Unlimited Disk Space", or provoke to see any limits being applied but I was able to host a few WordPress Divi website templates without an issue. Websites were loading fast-ish (not blazing fast but still good enough), SSL worked and I could bring my own domains 10/10.

You are limited to 3 "active accounts" on your dashboard, but you can add unlimited addon domains.
You can use about 30000 Inodes per account it seems.

And the Control Panel?.. is a cPanel rip-off, but this is positive, actually, as I am used to the workflow.

So, how do they make money then?
They show ads in the control panel (or in my case a "please disable your adblocker" notice; so you actually can block the ads), which is probably one way they make money. The other way is reminding you ever so often via E-Mail that you could very well upgrade to their premium tier. Fair enough, I'd say :)

TL;DR: What you see on the image below, is what you get (probably; judging from my experience:

They have an active forum (where people will complain about account deletions and other issues ever so often) and a Knowledgebase.

Overall, I have been happy and would recommend it for small projects of non-abusive/resource hungry nature :)

10/10 my free webhost to go to these days. Right now, I am not hosting any website with them, because I only trialed InfinityFree and have no actual use for it now. My HM reseller is still almost empty and my MyW reseller is running idle. Also I don't want to have more public facing domains than necessary where I have to put my imprint etc (german laws yay).

Time to start your own free web hosting, based on their free web hosting reseller plan:
    https://myownfreehost.net ?

My experience with them wasn't that great. Your experience will get much worse as soon your website has more than 10 visitors a day. Their fair-use policy is incredibly strict.

Since I wasn't anything with much traffic on it and just tried mock-up sites I can't comment on that but good to have some extra feedback :)

I thought they provided a real cPanel and was impressed by their offers. I like their motto and hope them continued success

    Nice... one more option.

For me other than the hosts mentioned in the post below, “free” means @SmallWeb since the rates are so low.

Can't imagine this is sustainable. How often do people actually use the panel after you've set up everything in the first time...

I'm the 85%. Also Elon likes memes hence he's an idiot.

@SmallWeb basically charges you to authenticate your identity and know where to point the finger in case you do illegal stuff. Not to make heaps of profit, really :)

They have been around for a while now though ;)
It's not real cPanel though. Licensing wouldn't allow that now with the pricing having changed.

  • @Ympker what is this? A paid post? Are you freelancer content writer?

I do write content posts for the LES blog from time to time which I submit to @AnthonySmith . This is my own review of the service in question. My experiences, use case and expectations when using the service might have been other than other people's. This is not a paid post and I am not affiliated with InfinityFree if that is what you are getting at. I was inspired to post this after reading @vyas post about free hosts :)

I haven't done a paid promotion ever iirc. Don't plan on doing one, either. There's other ways I prefer to make money.

On a lighter note, a paid promo for a free service sounds quite ironic.

Not going to lie, at an earlier stage of the free thingy i do, I did paid reddit advertisement. I am weird like that.

Just a quick update: After idling my account and website for almost a year now, I received this message via email:

Blabla your account bas been deactivated.
Your account received almost no visitors in the last 30 days. Inactive accounts are automatically removed to make room for new, active websites. If you have fewer than three accounts, you can reactivate it through your client area. If you don't reactivate the account, it will be deleted automatically in 3 days.

For a free service that's reasonable and 3 days should be enough time to just log in. I probably won't, since I really have no use for it anymore atm.

TL;DR: Still highly recommended as a free service. 3 days to log into an inactive account to stop deletion.

@Ympker Did you discover anything about who / where these folks are? Where the server is? Maybe all this is on their website. . . .

    Thanked by (1)Ympker

I hope everyone gets the servers they want!

  • I wonder what would happen if i loaded my 300gb database on there :)

Never bothered to check that, honestly. Now my website there is deactivated and dont wanna login anymore, so can't look it up rn. But it's free, so why not give it a try? Performance was fine for what I used it for :)

Edit: the servers are probably in the UK@iFastNet (iFastNet is what they try to upsell you to). InfinityFree company apparently is in EU.

@foxone they probably, like most (paid) hosts with unlimited "something", have a " Don't be a dick"-AUP in place.
