I already have 3 vm on KVM4, KVM5, NewKVM2 for idling. I want to get another 2 vm for etcd clustering.
If I buy 2 x UK-SSD-KVM-1024 vm, can be they deployed on physically different node?

I have 1 node open for new provisioning at the moment which is KVM10. if you order 2 now they will go on to KVM10, I could look to move one to another node for you if you want that early December though.

    good spoiler

  • Ant the box is stupid fast, great deal.

    Just a quick question:

Full daily whole disk image backup - FREE!

Is this a backup slot I can backup to, then restore the entire VPS disk image or is this just saying you're handling backups for me?

You are completely responsible for your own data and backups, in the event of a server failure or data loss your data will not be restored for you unless your package comes with managed backups, if you are unsure, please ask!

I'll try to answer this: these backups are intended for disaster recovery; as a user, you don't have access to these backups.

"A single swap file or partition may be up to 128 MB in size. [...] [I]f you need 256 MB of swap, you can create two 128-MB swap partitions." (M. Welsh & L. Kaufman, Running Linux, 2e, 1996, p. 49)

This ^ pretty much, I will restore backups for users though if and when required but I will never consider it a priority for me or urgent for me because your own backup strategy failed :) and I certainly won't allow it to be abused on even a semi-regular basis.

backups happen between midnight and 2am.

longer-term I have the bones of a system prepared that would allow you to trigger a restore and a backup yourself, might have it finished this year, at that point, I may will stop doing automatic backups because its a waste of resources if people have the option and opt-out.

Sounds really interesting and a particularly useful feature. Can’t wait for this. Assuming there would be some limit on this such as X number of restore points.

Yes, I don't want it being used as a snapshot service for simple testing as in 5 snapshots in 24 hours, but rather a system of; you opt-in, you get daily backups, I may even be able to allow you to set the time, you may perform up to 3 restores per week.

Odd, I have no explanation for that, I will check it out though, an initial look at the node suggests very little network activity overall (relativley speaking)

If I had some firm dates on hardware delivery I may consider that but I don't right now sorry, I did a pre-order once in the past, when it was more than 48 hours despite giving no specific time scale for delivery my Twitter was blown up by claims of a pre-order scam, so as I can't set a date I am not prepared to do that yet.

Unusual, I snagged an upgrade from a BF2019 special and thought it best to leave well alone whilst all the neighbours moved in. Noted IPv6 wasn't working at all on KVM10, was going to wait until after CM before reporting, but seems fixed now.

Don't normally put much stock in benches but yes it doesn't look too healthy. Got my fingers burned interpreting one of these, assume 'Send Speed' is inbound/upload.

I am seeing some good and then bad results, to be fair network activity overall is going to be ridiculous right now, before sending the network guys on a wild goose chase I will check it at various points during the day tomorrow and if it is still bad on Tuesday the goose chase can begin.
