    -snip out as it didn't really work-

    IPv6 didn't work out of the box in Debian 9, wrote this script to address it:

    # Put your gateway IP here
    GATEWAY_IPV6=1111:2222:3333:4444:0000:0000:0000:0001

    # Setup eth0 up/down hooks:
    cat > /etc/network/if-up.d/eth0_ipv6 <<EOF
    #!/bin/sh
    [ "\$IFACE" = "eth0" ] || exit 0
    /sbin/ip -r route add $GATEWAY_IPV6 dev eth0
    /sbin/ip -r route add default via $GATEWAY_IPV6
    EOF

    cat > /etc/network/if-down.d/eth0_ipv6 <<EOF
    #!/bin/sh
    [ "\$IFACE" = "eth0" ] || exit 0
    /sbin/ip -r route del $GATEWAY_IPV6 dev eth0
    /sbin/ip -r route del default via $GATEWAY_IPV6
    EOF

    chown root:root /etc/network/if-up.d/eth0_ipv6 /etc/network/if-down.d/eth0_ipv6
    chmod 700 /etc/network/if-up.d/eth0_ipv6 /etc/network/if-down.d/eth0_ipv6

    Then comment out post-down section in /etc/network/interfaces and reboot... not sure why those post command defined in the file didn't work as expected :/

    Looks like the IPv6 only works for a short period (~30 mins?) of time and then it decide to stop working... Delete and re-add those route will make it work again (route caching issue?).

    I'll upgrade to debian 10 and see if it fixes anything.

    Can you run:
    cat /etc/network/interfaces

    If netmask is 64, please change "netmask 64" to "netmask 48" in /etc/network/interfaces and reboot.

  • That got IPv6 working for me. (well, the equivalent ip addr add MY_IPv6/48 dev MYDEV command did)

    I'll change it to 48 and reboot, thank you for the help! :D

    Looks like is working fine for now.
