low priced HDD models
Hello everyone , I'm looking for some cheap HDDs at least 12 TB per HDD sata is preferable but sas is also good. I want to make them a storage node as big as possible , so I'm waiting for some model recommendations.
for working on p440ar / P420 raid controller
I'm generally interested in refurbished ones, I'm waiting for some model recommendations.
Regards ,

Have a look at the datahoarder subreddit...they're constantly looking at this question
@cociu should have many
I bench YABS 24/7/365 unless it's a leap year.
They have warnings.
Accepting submissions for IPv6 less than /64 Hall of Incompetence.
Stay away from refurbs jeez.
But why? It's gonna be only some customer data on it
Nothing of personal value
Go quickly grab some from cociu's dc. You might as well have that customer database copy you wanted.
WD shucks for SATA: https://shucks.top/
Used SAS, lower capacity but cheaper per TB: https://bitdeals.tech/
The new Toshiba "enterprise capacity" drives are incredibly cheap and (i bought a couple) they work very well
If you're gonna RAID it anyway then it might not be a bad play?
If you shuck, don't forget to scan for errors before removing the case!
If you buy refurbs, buy them in batches and expect a 30-60% failure rate, so buy 2x more than you need immediately, and be prepared for failures out of the gate-1 yr after purchase. It's a gamble for sure but if you have solid backups elsewhere and are OK with downtime during restoration, it's a reasonable option to keep the prices cheap.
Cheap dedis are my drug, and I'm too far gone to turn back.
