Finding the location of your servers is not that trivial.

(Quote) Is that like the British Virgin Islands? What's the cost of living in Yi? Don't know if I could settle there either.

Ironic that if you do something to Google they jump and send a nasty-gram, but if you complain to Google about spam coming from their services it is like sending it to a black hole.

@ehab for a comment about pants.

All the best with your search.

(Quote) Blocking ports does not render an IP address defective. Perhaps unsuitable for your use case.

Do you want to pay four Australian dollars and twenty-five cents monthly, or would paying yearly be acceptable? There are certain factors in your requirements that are complicating your search. For example, you require "unlimited bandwidth&qu…

I gave up trying to understand. The writing is not comprehensible.

Depends how many domains/queries you need. Gcore Labs is worth a look; they have a good free tier which includes geo DNS and performance is reasonable. Bunny is decent. NS1 is top class but has a very limited free tier (one domain/0.5M hits) and …

I agree free is good, and not aiming to be ungrateful, but a bit of transparency wouldn't go astray. They're soliciting people to sign up for an account and provide details because it "might" qualify you for a free service, but not disclo…

Did anyone find it written somewhere in their pre-signup docs that it only lasts a year?

(Quote) Having one button on the dialog say "Cancel" and the other say "Cancel service" might not be the clearest choice!

(Quote) That's not what was said at all. The two "accusations" were that (a) "Texas gets hit with a cold and snow and the State damn near blows up" and (b) "This happens basically every year, their grid is terrible". …

(Quote) That's a bit exaggerated. Some servers in my house (underground power) have uptime measured in years, and DCs are not losing power. A large part of the issue is with thick ice (not snow or cold) taking down trees.

VPN is fine, but if what you're trying to access is just a fixed web server then you can even do a port-forward with iptables and let the endpoints handle their own security.

(Quote) At least the current special offers do not promise anything other than "Ryzen CPU". Where were you promised a specific model? (Quote) Thank you! Do you want my PayPal address and send it to me directly?

Somewhere along the line this seems to have changed from "retrieve your NB data" to "business advice for Jarland".

(Quote) This is so childish and you do it repeatedly. It isn't smart or funny, and I doubt it is making you any friends or fans. I tend to try and ignore this stuff, but honestly, this sort of immature behaviour is making LES a worse place than it…

I've been wondering if more stuff will go down on Wednesday (or soon after) as start-of-month payments are missed.

If you're not comfortable doing it, you should hire a tech. @skorupion was looking for work?

(Quote) That's ridiculous. It was in reply to @imok and that's his avatar picture. Please take that sort of nonsense accusations somewhere else.

(Quote) Those are not the only three types of users. I have 50+ VMs and only about 3 running web sites.

All mine are currently up & working, thank you.

(Quote) You have misunderstood. The point was that AlwaysSkint misspelled an English word.

I appreciate you letting us know.

(Quote) You mean like smart bulbs? I use deCONZ and Zigbee, they have a compatibility list. I got a pack of Innr LEDs that are still going.

(Quote) No, but the end user panel doesn't seem to be working (no VNC etc.) now.
-
(Quote) Yes. I do something similar. Mikrotik lets you run as many OpenVPN clients (or other protocols) as you want and tie each of them to a subnet, VLAN, or whatever.
-
I try not to use crappy devices in the first place, but I put stuff like Chinese surveillance cameras on their own subnet or VLAN and completely block them from anything outgoing. If it requires "setup via app" I'm not touching it.

If I understood correctly, CloudFlare don't mark up the registrar price. So anyone cheaper than them is offering a discount to entice new customers which would be unprofitable if done longer-term. Or is that only true for some TLDs?

(Quote) Whatever term you want to use, repeatedly posting the same thing is obnoxious and unhelpful.
