(Quote) Wait, I think I forgot what password I set. Well, how awkward, guess I know what I'm doing when the network is back...
-
Is it possible to do emergency-login when I disabled password auth entirely? This made me realize that if I can't reach my servers over SSH directly I can't log in because I can't do key auth.

My Tokyo VPS went down, monitoring notified me, already in the network status page dated ~5 minutes ago. That was fast. (Well, here's hoping its recovery is fast too) edit: It came back already. 👍 edit: It died again. Tragedy.

Cloudflare's pricing should be the lowest (without going below the cost) for all normal domains that aren't country-codes. CCTLDs can charge whatever price they want to whoever they want, so they can say "You have to pay more because you're Clo…

I was waiting for a sale to use my $15 credit I won. Oh well.

WTFServe, 2008. Apparently $35/month for 256MB RAM, 10GB disk, 'unmetered' 100mbps. Cancelled after ~2 months because it was WHT-style fake unmetered - usage over an average of 4Mbps per month (95th percentile) was not permitted without paying extra…

First link takes me to a $29.99/first year offer, that link takes me to $4.99/first year offer that says it's "members only".

(Quote) 222MB RAM and 222GB bandwidth is enough for some stuff

I almost got it - got all the way through checkout before "cart is empty" - but I clicked twice on a button so it loaded twice. gg

(Quote) Well, now I'm thinking I'm probably in the "above first 22" segment of buyers.

Almost shattered a glass moving my hands to the keyboard but I got it. Well, pending.
-
Shit, I missed the $1.11 deal. Well, it did get me to pay attention to the sale page
-
As long as all the upcoming deals are Dallas I'm safe from buying.

MJJ = 没鸡鸡 = "lacking VPS" or "lacking penis"

Was the flash sale page always so colorful and I just didn't notice? I could've sworn it wasn't doing this a few hours ago

(Quote) should test in advance (via official site) which datacenters you can accept so you don't have to think before spending money

Does anyone else find that the chkaja tracker will eventually crash the tab with out-of-memory error?
-
I think more relevant is that it's piracy, which is pretty common not to permit (see the ToS of basically every hosting service in existence)

Adding IPv6 and doing Reconfigure Networking to my Tokyo VPS changed its SSH host key, but it seems to still be the same VPS.

Successfully migrated to Germany, IPv6 works. Neat. Also figured out how to use Ansible today, which sure is faster than setting up a VPS manually.

Well, since we can (for now) migrate flash sales, anyone know if Germany or the Netherlands is the better option for an EU VPS? I have a (non-VirMach) storage server in NL but it's so overloaded I don't want to put anything else on it. Can't remembe…

Grabbed that one, now to close this thread and the tracker and the sale page so I don't buy any more.

(Quote) I think it was 10GB?

I think there was a deal in between those. I thought for one minute too long. 3 vCore, 2.2GB RAM, Amsterdam, something along those lines. Well, thinking saved me money.

Aw, it was confirmed as a typo before I could even install an OS and check. Well, it was paid via store credit so I figure this is a best-case for getting it handled in some way. edit: lol I thought you meant the sale page had a typo but I see now …

I'll let you know if it was a typo once mine is delivered

Eh, I went to slept right before it started, did it end? Guess I'll wait for the real run

From the auto-response to the IPv6 ticket: (Quote) Well, this is such a nit-pick it would fall off a todo list...

(Quote) If you can't run YABS once then you probably can't use it for any kind of real work Sometimes you'll need to use reduced iperf locations or skip them altogether though if you have very limited bandwidth + high port speed
