Hello! At the moment there are 27 VPSes configured on the Chisinau server. I don't know why, but 8 VPSes seemed to be running continuously at high %CPU following recent update and revert of the netplan. As far as I am aware, the remaining 19 VPSes…

Best of luck with both doc and truck!

(Quote) 2 of 5 assigned? So 3 more to go? :) I have to update the numbers on fossvps.org. :)

Given the lack of good ideas about the high %CPU VPSes, and in the absence of objection, I propose to shut them down, perhaps as soon as tomorrow. One thing we might try is reverting one of the high CPU VPSes to its fresh snapshot. Maybe they all w…

Here's a Yabs from inside the new Chisinau VPS that I just made. Its IPv4 is one from the newly assigned group. The results seem pretty good, especially considering that several of the existing VMs currently are running 100% CPU. The results are -- …

Mystery partially solved! I missed one space in a yaml configuration file when testing the first of the Chisinau node's newly assigned IP addresses! root@alexhost:~/vm-seed/vmXX# yamllint network-config network-config 1:1 warning missing d…

I have received several congratulations about Chisinau VPSes which are working great. However, there also have been several reports of VPSes which are offline, which I confirm. Additionally, there are multiple VPSes running very high CPU. . . .

Great news! Chisinau node came back up without needing a power bump! Also, I can ssh into the node and into my test VPS via IPv4 and via IPv6. Hopefully we are back to where we left off before the netplan adjustment! I need to sleep now. Anybody s…

Two client reports confirmed the issues I was seeing. Netplan reverted. Chisinau node rebooted.

One idea I have is to revert to the former netplan configuration, which was working on all the previously assigned IP addresses but not the newly assigned addresses. Another idea is to reinstall the server node, to get it rebooting without needing …

Hello again! I thought everything was okay, but now I suspect significant problems. The Chisinau node came back up after the hard power reset. I could log in to the node remotely, and on the node it appeared that all the VPSes were running. I got i…

Hello! The Chisinau server is back up following a hard reboot. All the VPSes seem to be running. Any problems, please let me know! Best! Tom

Following update and upgrade, the Chisinau server reboot finally happend at Mon 22 Sep 2025 12:35:18 AM UTC. Prior to the update, upgrade, and reboot I believe we successfully applied changes to the netplan configuration. I think the server will n…

@AuroraZero Thanks! Will do! Reboot coming, maybe tomorrow morning, maybe about 16 hours from now. . . .

Hello! Trying to work with Alexhost to adjust configurations for the five new IPv4 addresses which they kindly provided. <3 Also there are normal apt-get updates and a reboot. It looks like the reboot probably will not happen today. I will post…

Hi! There is a reboot upcoming on the Chisinau node. Probably tomorrow. There are normal updates plus I need to add a few additional IPv4 addresses. I will post again before and after the reboot. Best wishes! Tom P.S. Everyone has backups, right…

(Quote) @AuroraZero Thanks! Finally I might be caught up to where I can add a few new IPv4 IPs to the Chisinau node and then assign an IPv4 VPS for you. Do you want to give me your ssh public key? Alexhost gave FOSSVPS a few extra IPv4s when they…

@epoch314 Delighted you are satisfied with your FOSSVPS! I need to make some more London VPSes. These would be either NAT IPv4 or IPv6 only. Also, one VPS was suspended for high CPU use, and, since I have no response from the client, that VPS mig…

@somik I thought your deleted post was a funny joke! If a server expires, it gets "deleted." If the server's expiration date is pushed back, then, in a sense, the deletion gets deleted, hence "deleted." :)

@KevvoGeek Congrats on joining us here at LES! Could you tell is a little about yourself so we can get to know you? Also (from the original post in this thread): (Quote)

Good morning! OnlyServers has kindly extended their donation of the London server until January 25, 2026! Thanks to Dan! <3

(Quote) Sorry, can't resist asking which one, please?

(Quote) At this time there are 9 VPSes assigned in LA and 0 available. This morning I heard that there was $100 of credit remaining in the account which was funding the LA server. The donor said that an additional $20 would permit the server to be …

(Quote) @cmeerw How's it going? Anybody else want to share this fine server? Thanks @Hosteroid! <3

(Quote) @somik, maybe not the same thing, but, did you see https://lowendspirit.com/discussion/9738/how-to-install-vscodium-with-code-server-on-a-debian-12-vps/p1 ? So I got code-server all set up and then didn't use it. :) I have plan9port install…

(Quote) I'm about to put a few new dedicated IPv4 + IPv6/128 up on Alexhost in Chisinau. Of course, I'd be delighted to give you one. But, it might be kind of far away (too much latency) for an interactive graphical application? Of course, it might …

After some testing, it seems that, following a recent update on the Ubuntu node, * New Debian VPSes don't seem to want to boot, and * Existing Debian VPSes still work, but maybe have inconsistent file I/O. Nevertheless, * New Ubuntu VPSes seem to…

Hello! There are 5 new IPv6-only Ubuntu 24.04 LTS VPSes ready to go on the Alexhost node in Chisinau. Since the recent node software update and reboot a few days ago, there has been some trouble making new Debian VPSes, which no longer boot. Also,…

I guess today I ought to try some organized testing to try to figure out whether the node also is seeing I/O issues or just VMs. I ought to look at the logs on the VMs with poor test results. Something tells me I'm not gonna find anything in the VM…

(Quote) This is another good question! There is a hardware RAID controller and 8 spinning rust disks in RAID 10. The RAID controller has tests. The RAID array status is reported as "Optimal."
-
(Quote) Yes. (Quote) Sounds right. (Quote) Yes, it seems that way. I can see via ssh all the disks on the node. I can see via ssh the hardware RAID controller on the node. I haven't physically seen the machine. Thanks for helping! <3

(Quote) Definitely a good question whether host machine or only hosted virtual machines are affected. One of the pretty smart and well experienced users told me this morning that he is seeing SCSI errors on his VPS, for the first time, recently. I …
