(Quote) I'm using Alpine, and I didn't do anything special to statically configure the link-local address. I think that is auto configured. This is my /etc/network/interfaces: auto loiface lo inet loopbackauto eth0iface eth0 inet static addres…

(Quote) It's working for me.

I like Thunderbird, but I prefer to self-host my email. Except for outgoing; I use mxroute for that.

(Quote) Ah, got it, thanks.

Just curious, is there a way to clear the announcements? (Image) The "keep your recipes up to date" one is always marked new.

GreenCloud's sale plans are usually Annual or Triennial, not monthly. I have a $60/3 year in Hong Kong and a $22.50/year (1TB storage) in Phoenix. They have some extra-good deals in their sale thread, but they're limited and go really fast. Their…

Do the Warsaw and Sydney locations have IPv6 now, or still IPv4 only?
-
(Quote) Same for me, IPv6 was down in Vint Hill several days ago, and I was able to fix it by removing IPv6 and adding it back. I've got a cron job that checks IPv4 and IPv6 connectivity from a remote system every 10 minutes, so I'll notice if it's…

(Quote) You might have deliverability issues with an xyz domain wherever you go. Maybe it would be even worse with the cheap numeric xyz's (I have one, too, but not for email).

If plans for LES are contingent on ad revenue, you could also just sell ad space directly to providers. The ads might be more relevant, too. But I imagine you've thought of that.
-
It's a little surprising that anyone who dislikes ads hasn't installed ublock origin.

Imgur often blocks data center IPs and VPNs (unless something has changed). I stopped using it years ago because of this. I use Rimgo, instead, as an imgur proxy. https://codeberg.org/rimgo/rimgo I usually use postimages.org for posting images, …

I think I know what happened. I'm normally connected to a vpn in Hong Kong, but I have tierhive.com set to bypass the vpn, so there's no issues. But I think the payment stuff pulls up fastspring also, so it probably detected the vpn. Though it se…

(Quote) No, it's in the Philippines. But I noticed there was a location selector in the upper right corner, and I was able to change it from Europe to the Philippines. Then, it charged me in USD with the local 12% VAT rate. I paid with paypal, an…

I was going to add some credit to my account, but it's wanting to charge me EUR instead of USD, and add 21% VAT, even though I'm not in Europe. Is this normal?

I don't think the actual port number matters, just that the internal port and forwarded port is the same. Right now, I usually add a port, so I can see what it will be, then delete it, then add it again with the same internal port number.

It's similar taking screenshots with wayland. Any drop-downs disappear (it's not just tierhive). I think it has something to do with the way the display system works.

Yeah, what I've noticed is that providers have their regular prices on their website, and then during certain times they'll post a special limited time offer to the forum. Sometimes they do this often, some only once or a few times a year. With mu…

(Quote) Most offers I've seen over the years are recurring (the price doesn't increase). If it's not recurring, I'd probably not be interested.

You could try setting up blocky: https://github.com/0xERR0R/blocky And configure it to use an alternate DoH port: https://0xerr0r.github.io/blocky/latest/configuration/ # optional: ports configurationports: # optional: DNS listener port(s) and …

West Coast USA would be good. Something non-OVH would be nice, too.

Regarding karma systems, my main experience with them is reddit. Personally I dislike it, but that doesn't mean it shouldn't be done, or that it wouldn't be beneficial. My response to it, is that I don't downvote anything. It bothers me when I se…

I was able to get one in Kansas City now. I had been trying for awhile, but I just figured it was out of stock.

I ran across Zola today: https://www.getzola.org/ Anybody used it before?

And something about 32 MB and 64 MB instances?

I'm using Alpine 3.23.2. And I just did it again, despite just posting that, and wondered why it wasn't rebooting. I prefer Debian, but I usually use Alpine for low memory stuff.
-
One thing I've noticed; if I do a reboot from the command line on a freshly provisioned vps, it just shuts down but doesn't reboot. Then I need to boot it from the control panel. I need to remember to do the first reboot from the control panel. …

Not that it really matters, but I often try to use the same port number. Since I don't know what it will be, I add it so I can see what port it will assign, then delete it, then add it again.

@AnthonySmith For your heart, you might try to add more magnesium and potassium to your diet (if you haven't already). Most people are deficient unless they supplement.

Are all the TierHive locations OVH data centers? Or are you using any other data centers?
