(Quote) This is the point I disagree with. If the provider is on LES and some random user on LES posts an affiliate link, then it's not really adding anything unless the provider is truly abysmal at promotion. And with LET (I've seen aff links ther…

Personally, when I see someone posting an affiliate link to me it cheapens the brand. Worse still, you have limited control on who you've given the link too, and if they turn out to be obnoxious and you see a hate filled message followed by an affil…

(Quote) Actually, I suspect the complete opposite. A SQLite database is just a file which can be located wherever you want on the filesystem. There are bindings for it for almost every language, and deployment is just copying any default DB into the…

No, I've not explained very well! On the machine with fixed IP address: [Peer]PublicKey = ...# no endpoint specified On the machine with NAT: [Peer]PublicKey = ...Endpoint = PUBLIC_IP:PUBLIC_PORTPersistentKeepalive = 60 You only really need the…

Milton Keynes is a bit crap really, commiserations to your aunt! Hopefully she'll get to escape and see somewhere nice while she's in the UK! But if she can't go far and has a spare day and likes computers and/or codebreaking, then I'd highly recomm…

(Quote) Slight necro, but... If you use PersistentKeepalive on the NAT-ted side talking to a peer with a known endpoint IP, you don't really need the port to be mapped at all.

(Quote) Personally, I'd say so as for instance interserver is $6 per TB normally, but anyone who got the birthday $3 per TB deal can grow at the same price (I think). (Quote) I guess that rules out using it as a borg backup server.

Also it might be fanless, but the HDD noise will drive you crazy when you're trying to be asleep. What you save in heating costs, you'll spend on earplugs.

32GB for the entire node? :o How many users are you planning to put on this thing?

Keep renewing them for the next 20 years, doing nothing with them. Forget one year and watch someone snap it up and also do nothing with it. Or at least, that's my strategy.

Clearly it's from the late-90s as it doesn't use <BLINK>

I got a beta VPS from Advin in 204.10.x.x a couple of weeks ago. It uses a tunnel with a bit of extra latency, so it might not be suitable for your purposes, but it's probably worth asking them if you still need a 204.

(Quote) When you say "plan to register it in Canada" does that mean you and the company is based in Canada, or just that you're registering it there to seem more legitimate?
