like @rpqu just stated, if they answer question or engage a bit, would make voting much easier, than just seeing if they like cats or dogs.

on the other hand, as new member the form already would highly likely throw me off...

All of the questions you see answered above in the OP are required to be answered as part of the registration and one of the questions is "Why do you want to join this forum?"

yes they can reply to their own posts in the new members section.

There was always a forum, the only difference now is, its not just me clicking aprove or deny
