Two really nice Linveo Texas Intel VPSes -- free transfer to LES friends!

Not_OlesNot_Oles Hosting ProviderContent Writer

Guys!

I have two really nice Intel VPSes from Linveo. I don't need them any more since I rented a dedicated server.

One expires on August 22, 2026 and the other expires on August 27, 2026.

Specs (if I remember right), 2 VPSes, each with:

  • Intel Xeon CPU E5-2690 v4
  • 4 Cores
  • 8192 MB RAM
  • 50 GB NVMe SSD
  • 1 x IPv4
  • 1 x IPv6/64
  • 8 TB Bandwidth
  • Texas
  • $4.07/month

I was using one of these to compile FreeBSD every few days and the other to compile OpenBSD.

It would be REALLY hard to find a nicer provider than Linveo! Kind, fast, friendly, inexpensive! Highly recommended! <3

Transfer is free for ORL friends.

I'm hoping that anyone who takes one of these excellent VPSes will talk with Linveo about continuing as their customer. Meanwhile, I am happy to install an OS and give you access.

Linveo has approved my transferring these two VPSes.

Best wishes!

Tom

    Hi @bugabuga!

    Thanks for helping! <3

I took the CPU off the Control Panel:

Reinstalling both of the VPSes with the Linveo control panel's Debian 13 and running dmesg say, resopectively:

    root@vps3:~# dmesg | grep Xeon
    [ 0.623716] smpboot: CPU0: Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-2690 v4 @ 2.60GHz (family: 0x6, model: 0x4f, stepping: 0x1)

Running cat /proc/cpuinfo or lscpu also gives:

As a Clueless™ person, I can say that what is shown on the Control Panel and inside a running KVM VPS possibly might not correspond to the actual hardware on which the KVM hypervisor is running.

Linveo has been nothing but nice to me, and I really enjoy their VPSes! These two VPSes are still available, free for ORL friends.

Seems that Geekbench thinks these VPSes are running Qemu standard processor i440FX architecture.

    They're nice VPSes! Best wishes!

Do you want expiry August 22 or Aug 27?

Yeah, I think they're okay! Do you also want the other one? If you ask Linveo, I think they can give you more. I think you said you needed four. . . .

Okay, still one nice VPS available! :)

  • @Not_Oles, May I ask which dedicated server did you end up getting to replace these VPS?

  • Nice

I moved all my websites to Carrd, and cancelled all my idlers.
    Save the earth, don't idle.

  • @Not_Oles Is the second VPS still available and Linveo will honor the price following exchange?

  • Not_OlesNot_Oles Hosting ProviderContent Writer

    @GeekWanderer

    Hi!

The VPS expiring on the 22nd is still available.

Linveo approved my transferring this VPS, but I'm not authorized to speak for Linveo. Nevertheless, I would be surprised if they did not continue to honor the price. As of yesterday or the last time I checked recently, the deal seems still available on the other green forum. I guess the advantage of taking this one might be that at the least you get a free trial from now to the 22nd.

My suggestion is that you talk with Linveo directly. @linveo

I think Linveo is super nice and super friendly, super responsive and super helpful, so I would be shocked if it turns out that you take this VPS and are anything less than completely happy with it. The only reason I sadly am leaving this nice VPS is that I got a dedicated server.

The VPS has been turned off for a few days. Because you asked, I just turned it on, updated and upgraded, and ran a Yabs.

If you want it, post or send me your ssh public key, and it's yours, at least until the 22nd, and then whatever you work out with Linveo.

Of course, if you decide that you don't want it, please post here again so that others can know that it's still available.

    Thanks!

    Best!

    Tom

  • @Not_Oles Thanks for the explanation and great offer. Looks like Linveo is sticking with monthly billing so I’ll pass.

Keep up the good work promoting BSD!!

    Thanks @GeekWanderer!

To me, Linveo sticking with monthly billing seems like a positive sign! They can't be trying to grab annual billing payments and then deadpool!

@Everyone Nice VPS still available for free until August 22! :)

  • @Not_Oles Tom, I'm very interested, and would continue with Linveo. Please see my intro post for long-term ORL bona fides; happy to provide more over DM if necessary.

  • That is a solid deal for anyone who needs a cheap box for BSD builds or testing. Four cores, 8 GB RAM, IPv4 and IPv6 for around $4 is hard to complain about. The YABS results look decent too. Curious to see how the cluster performs once imok gets everything running.

    Hi!

Thanks for your message! Welcome to LES!

The remaining VPS is set to expire tomorrow, and it's almost lunch time here. So, maybe there might not be much gained in my passing the VPS to you for just the few remaining hours?

You can open an account with Linveo and and get the same deal yourself by posting in Linveo's thread on the Other Green Forum ("OGF"), which you would have to do anyway to continue with the VPS. . . .

But, if there is some special reason to go ahead with the transfer, please let me know. I also would need your ED25519 ssh public key.

    Best!

    Tom
