pCloud and Rsync
Has anyone of the pCloud users here tried using it with rsync? I haven't yet, but seems like they're promoting it again, so I might give it a try. Got lots of unused space anyway ![]()

Thanks! I keep flagging posts that I want to thank. Old habits die hard.

Nice idea, but I'm a teacher in secondary education now. Unfortunately, I have less time than as a student, now 😆😂

It is, thanks mate
I'm just about 3 weeks in, so it's still a lot of work and getting used to, but it's fun. What about you? How's life?

I read @Ympker posts again here. He is getting used to “I have more money now ** but less time than before” phase of life.
Best wishes
** Good position to start a career btw
p.s: Gemini suggests an option of getting a VPS, install pcloud cli on vps, and rsync to it.

@Ympker does pCloud usually have Black Friday deals?
Yup! https://blog.pcloud.com/pcloud-black-friday-deal/
Hey there, friend. Happy to see you again, too! I've been MIA a bit as life hit me with a "real" job now. No more student Blues, unfortunately haha. Time's more scarce now, more money comes in, but at what cost? Who thought this was a good deal? Anyway, it actually feels good to be independent (money-wise) now and the job, while exhausting, definitely is fun. I enjoy teaching and maybe I'll be able to launch some sort of Linux seminar/workgroup for students, for the geeks here. Who knows?
How's life been going for you mate?
Speaking of Gemini, I have the Pro version right now. In the last weeks of being a student there was a deal for Pro along with lots of GDrive Space (5TB?) and YouTube Lite for 5€/month for the first year. I happily jumped on that. Still using pCloud as my Daily driver (with Cryptomator).

The question would be, when they don't have deals haha. And here's the problem: you have to find a "good" deal. Compare it to last BFs perhaps. Recently there was also a sale for Germany's Unity Day.

Keep an eye on Stack Social as well. They are always on sale, but the deals get better sometimes.
pCloud doesn’t speak rsync natively, but rclone has a built-in pCloud backend, so rclone sync / rclone copy behave much like rsync (checksums, --bwlimit, --dry-run).
One gotcha: pCloud has separate US and EU regions and an account only works on its own API host. If auth fails for an EU account, set the hostname to eapi.pcloud.com during rclone config.
If you want client-side encryption for backups, rclone’s crypt remote on top is an alternative to Cryptomator for scripted jobs.
